Thanks to all those I’ve run with over the years. Its been a long time coming but I think I’m essentially done with the game.
I can’t find time to raid thanks to life, family, work, hobbies. This has been the case for about 8 years, so I’m basically a filthy casual. I’ve continued to play for nostalgia reasons and because certain parts if the game were still more or less accessible to me. On that note, Mythic+ for all of it’s flaws, was my end game content.
Here’s what’s broken things for me. I like to tank. In fact it’s the only thing in game I like to do anymore. I can run dungeons as a tank all day on a weekend and have a blast. The changes to Mythic+ in Shadowlands are very disappointing to me. Its going to be much harder to gear as a tank, take much longer and items that will be crucial to game play will again be locked behind raids.
So looking at the future, unless things change, here is my dilemma. Guilds are full on raid tanks, even if I could find one that I could fit my schedule into, there is a 99.99% chance they are full on tanks. So to tank I can run either PuG raids on weekends if I’m lucky or Mythic+ (PuG and some guild runs). Now that Mythic+ rewards are nerfed so dramatically I will always be under geared compared to others.
Tanking is in a bad place blizz. It’s easy to find PuG runs, don’t get me wrong, but if you want to actually play a tank at any type of challenging level then you’re out of luck in a lot of ways. You’ve stacked the deck against tanks for some very odd reason and demoralized a lot of people from playing them. You really should be encouraging tanking gameplay both through rewards and also through systems.
Maybe I’ll play DPS in Shadowlands instead, but with my schedule and responsibilities I just can’t sit in a queue for 45 minutes very frequently. Tanking for me was both very enjoyable and expedient. I’m going to miss it.
Seems like a post more relevant in a guild discord than wow general forums.
As far as your complaint it seems like you’re upset that you’ll have to actually earn gear by doing relevant content and when you do that content you won’t be showered with trash gear like in BFA. You keep complaining that Tanks are in a bad place without offering any legitimate issue.
With the un-pruning tanks are going to have more buttons than they’ve had in a long time, covenant abilities add a ton of previously absent utility, and you can literally pick your best legendaries to craft at the beginning of the expansion.
If you’re biggest complaint is that Tank qeues are going to be longer than 3 minutes and you don’t have alot of time to play then that’s a YOU problem and not a tank one.
Are guilds full of tanks because tanking is easy? I mean I’ll tank a raid any day of the week. With DBM, tanking feels so easy that I’m probably doing it wrong.
You know what? It might have something to do with the fact that dungeon groups are 20% tanks and raid groups (Mythic) are only 10% tanks.
At least Blizzard decided to give your class their tanking in a seperate spec instead of stripping it away completely…
I still feel the pain every now and again.
