Things You Forgot About Classic

Watching demo videos, I found a couple things I forgot about and was wondering if anyone else had “Oh yeah” moments as we talk about Classic.

For me it was rested XP, I totally forgot how important that was, and class quests. Yes, some of the class quests were a PITA, but it felt good when you finished them.

Also the Soul Harvester, though I’ll probably pick up the trinket from that chain as I’ll probably have a better weapon by the time the level 50 ST quests come out.

If I forgot them how would I remember them in order to post about them?

Ha, yeah, I meant you forgot them until someone here or in videos mentioned them and you remembered.

When i was on a pserver…

Instant poison having charges AND a duration

Poisons getting removed when you zoned into an instance where two that both had me stopping and realizing things I’d forgotten.

I forgot that mage’s water creation count scaled as 2 per how many levels past the point where you got the rank.

So water at level 6, you get 2. At level 7 you get 4, and level 8 you get 6.

And I was reminded that the max level water did NOT get spat out in stacks of 20.

Forgot that you had to jump repeatedly to rise in the water instead of just holding the space bar down.

This is the great question… to get the staff or the trinket. My head says the trinket as it is a very nice quality of life improvement however…my heart? My treacherous heart wants a scythe.

Having to level your weapon skill so you don’t miss as much

I forgot LBRS existed. It’s always the dungeon I go “oh yeah that place.” I never did that dungeon more than once or twice and haven’t in many years. Now that classic is coming… I’m remembering and I’m not liking it at all.

I want to forget it again.

Also how long BRD is. In the current game it’s split into two dungeons almost. Haven’t done a full run in many, many years.

I forgot nothing. That’s why I’m so excited to play Classic.

That’s going to be a shock for a lot of people.

The trinket is useless. You don’t need a voidwalker if you are out of shards. Imp cost no shard and easily is enough to kill one mob to get said shard. Harvester is the ONLY scythe in vanilla. The choice is obvious. :grin:

Which I’m excited to level hah

For me its more about things I keep researching and finding that are inaccurate on Private Servers.

Last Night I was trying to find proof that the Wetlands Alliance quest: A Grim Task, main NPC Balgaras used to sometimes spawn inside the buildings in Wetlands forcing groups to fight through floors of fast respawning elites to find him.

Thanks to WoWhead incorporating all old Thottbot + Allakhazam comments (https://classic.wowhead.com/quest=304/a-grim-task) I was finally able to find conversations that prove the NPCs respawn point should be randomized between roughly 3 buildings in the dwarven encampment, and one outside camp which is much easier to access.

On Private servers Balgaras ONLY spawns outside at the easy to access camp making this quest much easier than it really was. Also it grants far more reputation for IF on Private Servers than it did in early Vanilla (This sort of thing is going to devastate those trying to grind exalted with major cities to ride different mounts). And there’s a lot more.

Basically I’m trying to get ahead of all the stuff people that have become familiar with PServers are going to be confused about once real accurate scripting hits the scene.

I have forgotten less than I remember about classic. Even the stuff ive forgotten i will be excited to get back into! All the dungeons actually being difficult… that’ll be awesome instead of just “lol. How fast can we AoE this?”

I did SFK the other day on a pserver. Our tank was retail rushing, wiped us many times lol. I’m like dude… this is classic , we need to chill! Hahah
