So tonight I was running LFR as that is what I run for my end game. Anyway was grouped up with some decent people, one in particular who gave me a staff that they had won that I had rolled on… So to the player who has a name after a soothing tea, thank you.
Unforunately in the heat of the moment trying to get to the next boss, I don’t remember if I thanked you or not, and I tried to send you an in game mail to thank you… But it said that you cannot send mail to that realm.
So this is what doesn’t make sense. I can group with someone from a realm, trade cross realm with them but I can’t send them an in game mail?? and yes I got the name-realm correct before you ask.
As I can’t specifically name that person due to ‘forum rules’… but I do hope that you see this…

I remember a whole bunch of dumb restrictions before I connected my phone and was wondering if this might be one of them.

You cannot send ingame mail outside your server or connected servers.
You will get a message “You can’t send mail to that realm”. I cant even send mail to my alts on other realms.
Knee I’m happy to stand corrected here because it’s been ages but I swear I’ve sent mail to my alts on other not connected realms. I am on Thaurssian and Saurfang which are not connected.
I’m 99% sure the restriction is ‘has to have no item’ or ‘item is blizzard account bound’
Yeah that is why it doesn’t make sense. I could trade with them, but i can’t mail them a thank you nessage
I checked it before making the comment. 
Tried to send Knee an ingame mail from my hunter on Nagrand, and got that message.

Fair enough! How do the account bound items work then? Did they just freshly make this change? (Sorry I know you might not have the answer to this, maybe a game change?)
Roll a character on his realm and use that to send the mail.
It works for account bound items (which I also checked) but apparently not for anything else.
