Certainly, I agree that these are reports are logged. The problem is the subjective nature of what constitutes harassment, spam, and trolling. I’ve personally been blindsided by automation on these forums when it wasn’t called for.
You don’t need to look far for a first-hand account of someone who was unfairly squelched. But when is the last time you heard someone complain about being punished for abusing the system?
That’s significantly less common, because proving malicious intent when someone can plausibly say “i think it is spam” is often not an easy thing to do.
Every one of the first hand accounts of someone being “unfairly” squelched was later proven to be a fair squelch from what i’ve seen.
And as for “i thought it was spam”, you have to find a large enough number of people also willing to report as well. The only time you can get that is when there’s some form of collusion going on and there winds up being evidence of so, or the stuff really was spam or some other issue that goes against blizzard’s ToS that would result in a valid squelch.
