They're releasing it too soon

alot of you saw how buggy and unfinished the demo was, so I'm gonna skip that part

they're only giving themselves maybe 8 months to finish Classic WoW, and they said that they had alot of stuff left to do in the last news post about the demo before blizzcon and the demo

so the launch is being rushed, probably due to diablo: immobile's overwhelmingly horrible reception and BfA's bad reception, so that they can get that money sooner

and as a result of launch being rushed, launch is gonna be buggy

just like it was in vanilla

You can do a lot of stuff in 8 months. It seems like a perfectly reasonable timeframe to polish it up.

They released the demo too soon maybe.
Idk. Just feels like that was a last minute addition to blizzcon.
Them making the claim it was planned all along makes me think that even more.
Blizz polish and a level of quality unsurpassed in the industry.
It's done when it's done and we get a "demo" that has the lfr interface still in it? Guess // doesn't work with modern code?
Unless that was left in to stir up controversy to keep the hype train chugging along.

I'd just expected it to be more polished and closer to complete given blizz core values.
The water looked good!

As someone who has no interest in retail and was just waiting patiently for classic, I would not have cared if they did not give a release date. That was back when I believed blizzard was making it for the crowd who begged for over a decade for it. However since they decided to gift it to existing subs and release a "date" of release, it is clear they are only doing it as a tourniquet for the gushing bleeder BFA and they really could give a F about vanilla fans.

After it took them a year to show us an unfinished demo of two zones? Remember classic was announced nov 2017, I don't think 8 months is reasonable to finish the game considering how little they've accomplished in 12.

I think the state of the demo was a test to see how much the community would freak out if they implemented changes. They got their answer loud and clear.

I don't mind if they release it too soon. But please release fresh new servers as the game is patched(polished) in the months after the release. And have them each have their own progression release schedule.

If it wasnt a blatant cash grab then I think this is right, its mainly to take the temperature of the audience, and possibly start convincing us that some of these changes are needed.

The demo and the discussion during the con makes it seem like they are opting for a very low effort implementation. I'm hoping for a lot from their next communication.

Goes deeper than that my friend.
That 7.3.5 engine is supporting 2 games..legion and classic.
Remember "we don't want to support 2 MMO's" ?

That // has to become an "if legion then x else y" or a case statement if they plan to do BC, wotlk.

That work isn't going to be any simple task if that 7.3.5 engine is supporting 2 games.

This is how Blizzard develops all their games, they spend 2+ years building the world and the art assets and then they quickly throw the rest together in the last couple of months, I've seen this with every WoW expansion, when the alphas come out its like all the quests and cutscenes and music is just being made at the very last second.

With classic wow they don't need to build a world or make any assets, everything is already done, they just need to get it ready.

They started the project in 2016. They've been working on it for 2 years.
That was from the developer interview at Blizzcon.
I think 8 months is pushing the envelope myself.

It’s not a new game. 8 months is plenty of time.

Yep.

The "community" is so split it doesn't know what the heck it wants.
Remember when the complaint used to be "The game is taking way too long to develop"?

I do. It was only 9 days ago.

8 months is a long time - but not when it comes to developing a finely polished game. Unless this was a year old alpha build demo, they have a lot more than 8 months of work to fix it. If they're seriously releasing this in 8 months, I also seriously doubt the readiness of it. We'll see, I guess.
No it needs to come faster.
I blame Majordomo Executus.

He always does things too soon.

In fact, I bet you real money, someone is going to be yelling at him for opening their raid too soon.

Yes, based on the demo, a summer release is going to be a bugfest.

Your first mistake was thinking that Blizzard actually cares about their fans.
