They're keeping sharding on perma again aren't they?

There IS no right place. Period.

They’d sooner push the problem onto someone else in a repeating circle because it’s the easiest way to publically admit the communication behind the scenes sucks worse than a broken vacuum.

I PROMISE if you go to Bug report, they will send you back to CS or make some of the same comment about how ‘that’s not us, out of our hands.’

This is exactly why Blizz needs to start communicating with the player base and/or create a new forum space to post this stuff when it doesn’t fall under the category of a suggestion or a bug report, but is more of a demand to return to normalcy and for something to work as previously agreed upon that they continuously forget about

(my guess is they have a revolving door work place and noone is around long enough in those departments to remember the last times it happened)

But it really truly is the most infuriating aspect of dealing with a company too big to care and instead just plays pass the buck hoping to discourage people with these problems from bringing them to light rather than helping them to resolve it at all (cause the latter would be more difficult and costly to do)

It’s just a game of pass the buck, Bug forums is like the graveyard they bury the dead threads in. Because the bug forums almost NEVER has anyone reply to posts there and most of those bugs go completely unanswered, and 8 or 9 out of 10 times go completely unworked.

Being told to post in the bug forums is the equivalent now of being told “Go post in a place it won’t get seen or worked”, or “Go bother someone else with that problem so I don’t have to deal with it”, or essentially, “Stop bothering us we really don’t care”.

I just want them to de-shard Stormwind so everyone will GTFO of Darkshire. Go away, ya’ll. This is gremlin town.

Well that’s the nice thing about the Bug Report forum is that Blues don’t go there at all. There’s no expectation of a Blizzard response, unlike Customer Support or Technical Support. You whisper a bug into your hands and toss it into the well of the Bug Report forum and wishes and fairies may carry it to the right place, if your heart is true.

It’s where issues go to die.

This is genuinely the most likely cause of the problem. “Bob took care of that. Bob isn’t here anymore. No one knows how Bob did it.”

What if we post in the empty Service Status forum? :joy:

So, I’m in the process of talking to a few sources about getting some transparency for roleplayers about how blizzard handles their RP servers.

What I’ve asked is for clarity on if the RP social rules are still enforcible and in effect, how is the process of de-sharding RP hubs handled, who has the authority to do this, and how players can campaign for long-term changes regarding this?

I’ll get back to you once I have the information.

Hopefully it’s in line with this https://twitter.com/WarcraftDevs/status/1022566187266232320

But they really need to come out and just have more communication, accountability, and be a lot more proactive in disabling sharding after an event.

Take some responsibility blizz. Feels bad when you hold us to higher standards then you yourselves are held to.

My hope in doing this is to promote transparency between Blizzard and Roleplayers on how the servers are run and the unique rules in which we are expected to uphold, and to clarify the processes and reasons why certain decisions are made.

The more information we have - even if we might not necessarily agree with it - the more empowered we can be to campaign for reasonable changes and demonstrate our worth as stakeholders.

For example, even if we can’t remove sharding (during events) due to hardware limitations, a PSA announcement (on twitter) on when sharding will be implemented and when it will be removed would be helpful for roleplayers wanting to return to Stormwind Roleplay. Not knowing creates confusion and frustration.

Maybe they are waiting for server restarts which happens on Tuesdays. The event ended after that restart so they may have to wait until the next set of them.

You’re not a stakeholder unless you hold stock within the company. You’re a customer. Veerrrry big difference.

Honestly Duskwood is pretty great as an rp spot.

I have loved Duskwood, but I also play Ebon Blade characters and whatnot. Undead.

I honestly want Stormwind back because half of my fun was going OOC and stalking the other RP groups that don’t necessarily dwell in darker areas. xD

It’s been shown in the past that server restarts are not a required part of turning sharding off or on. My money’s on that the one person who can do it is not there atm or has no clue.

I think you may be confusing stakeholders with shareholders. A stakeholder is not necessarily someone who owns stock or has otherwise invested in a company. Rather, a stakeholder is anyone who has a vested interest in the success, failure, or general outcome of a business or project – someone for whom the situation has ‘stakes.’ Customers can be stakeholders, especially if the company, project, or product in question has a major impact on them or holds a prominent place in their lives.

That doesn’t mean it is optimal.

IDK, it feels a bit overwhelming to me lol. I like how much we can spread out in SW.

Ahhh, my mistake.

This, however, this wording still feels a liiiittle bit too serious for a vidja game.

I still don’t understand why everyone moved to Duskwood when there’s tons of better places to RP at.

Alas, this is just the game we’re playing now. People go wherever is most popular and where the most people are going to be found.

Because it’s close-ish to Stormwind but doesn’t have the layering issue of Redridge, a few people went there, and then it became The Place to Go.

The lesson to be learned is - if there’s a place that you prefer to go, and it’s easily accessible to everyone without phasing/major lore issues/with amenities…

Step 1: Go there
Step 2: Bring your friends
Step 3: Let people know that there are people there hanging out
Step 4: Keep going there regularly
Step 4: You’ve just made a new hub! Congratulations!
