The vault is a good idea if they reduce RNG. They need to build some smart logic into it in order to allow players to target pieces they need. Here are some ideas I have, and how it would work.
You’d have vault settings that can be changed anytime and always asked to be confirmed before u open the vault. Here are the settings:
-confirm loot spec
-No items for currently equipped slots that contain a legendary/tier piece (unless higher ilevel is a available)
-only item level upgrade slows (ie if you did 15s and already have 278 bracers, u can’t get bracers)
-no duplicate slots
-only drop from loot table of content you’ve cleared that week
These would be able to be changed any time and always asked to confirm when opening the vault.
Idk if I’m on board with the loot table being ONLY what you’ve run. I’d suggest a token system to just buy what you wanted by saving for maybe two weeks.
But also, yeah I don’t want tier helm in my vault when I already have it. Two pieces of tier dropped for me this week and both were helms which I already have. Just feels real bad, real, real bad.
If it’s an Ilvl upgrade I would understand but my helm is a 278. Idk. I think the vault could just be done away with entirely with justice tokens dropping as bonus loot from raid and end of dungeon loot, and arenas. You’d have to weekly cap it at like 10 tokens so raid, pvp and M+ are equal but maybe 10 tokens buys you loot you want and you can buy Ilvl based on your progression.
That’s a terrible idea. First off, ain’t no way they let you get full 278 in 16 weeks, doing 1 dungeon a week. Second, rings and neck have wildly different weights for you, I do not want to be stuck with 2 crit rating rings.
I think that would be too much for Blizz to handle and speed up the gearing process… which they dont want , they want people to keep playing and doing content over and over , to keep you busy for 8 month duration of the patch / season
Whatever they do, they’ll be a control freak and make it a dry drip feed on purpose. They need that variable reinforcement of lots of bad rewards in between the good drops.
Anything less than the vault being deleted entirely from the game and moving rewards entirely into the game mode end of dungeon/match chesting is inappropriate.
Additionally my playstyle is such that I play one game mode in bursts, so that it turns out that doing 30+ mythic runs a week nets me crappy rewards versus people who did 8 a week plus some pvp. I literally cannot find people to prog and learn raids with, and I don’t trust Blizzard with their matchmakers or anti-cheat, so I refuse to start any PVP content.
I have a year left of sub time and think I’m going to wind up hard quitting this week for another MMO. I’m basically being taken for granted by out of touch Blizzard employees.
At this point I’ve already quit essentially everything multiplayer about this game. The one thing that had me going was m+, but being taken for granted/harassed by other players, and then compensated poorly with intentionally timegated and bad systems, isn’t enough.
They’re not going to do anything to make the loot better. They’ve spent more coding hours on making the loot feel like having your eyes gouged out than any other thing in the company’s history. Two of the last 3 days the ZM dailies gave the exact same slot with the exact same stats across multiple dailies, and they can’t even tertiary upgrade roll. They want the loot to be as viciously abusive as possible.
I don’t even mind if it takes longer to get to max ilvl. I’d just enjoy a more deterministic system that better matches time and effort with power gains.
One thing they need to do is give more then one loot piece.
If you unlock all 9 boxes you should get to choose an item from each tier. That’s a ton of grinding for 1 item.
Blizzards stance has seemed to always be to avoid letting people who can play 24/7 have a massive advantage over those who play a more “normal” amount of time.
That would completely destroy that principal, but maybe that’s what people want?
