You’re going as a straight for Halloween?
I think the main point was that it was believed to be a bad word. Because they said why bunch of the community was using the initial insult. Now I’m 34, I’ve been on the interwebs since I was probably idk 13. Maybe younger than that. During that time twink was always looked as a slur.
And now it’s been adapted by the community and even by Blizzard in regards to Anduin, having called him a twink.
I am a … bit older than that. It has never been a slur in my experience. I’ve seen it used as such, but I generally put it more in the category of ‘words you don’t use in polite normative society’ than ‘slur’. It has definitely softened to be more broadly socially acceptable, though.
I don’t mean to make an absolute statement because words have varying meanings in varying contexts, but I don’t think it’s reflective of the most common experience.
Eh yeah ill admit the initial post wasn’t winning any awards, but it communicated an idea and was a good litmus test in the end. Probably still managed to provoke thought if not actively then passively.
It was never meant to aim exclusively at the gay community, but thematic choices as a whole like color pallet, voice actors, writing, clothing, architecture, landscape, ect. I just thought people would know generally what I was talking about when referencing the market research.
I dont mind inclusion, id just rather see the devs do their own thing.
It’s more so because it’s fetishized, used inappropriately and ageist. Like again for the time that I’ve been online it’s been looked as negatively. However in recent years, maybe past 5-10 years it’s more accepted in mainstream culture.
It’s a term that also has a derogatory nature in regards to it. But again I’ve been on the internet in various different communities over the past idk 20 years or so. Words change and people can reclaim certain words. But it’s also important to be mindful of their history and the context that is being used.
Might as well be my costume lmao, no time between clocking off and going to the party to change into something less…industrial.
Carharts don’t generally broadcast that well.
but they didn’t.
and they asked for clarification.
and you responded with aggression.
You’re the type to ask for sources when someone’s telling a story at a bar aren’t you?
Also it would be really cool if you could stop being ableist to people you dont know
Depends on the person I suppose. I’ve always taken it as a slur. It’s something you wouldn’t want to describe a friend because you might get punched in the face. Unless you like getting punched in the face. Then you’re kind of a masochist.
Like there’s certain words pertaining to Italians, Irish, Polish, and Germans that you wouldn’t want to utter to them. Unless again you like getting punched in the face. That’s the connotation of a slur to me. It’s going to be different for anyone. But it’s a word that I’m not going to utter in public is my meaning.
No that would be me. But only if the story comes off as fact when it’s just bs.
Right but you probably don’t do that when its declared that its not fact, right?
I don’t think irl twinks and WoW twinks are related.
If somebody was like “yo, last night when I was high I came up with this silly idea”, then I wouldn’t ask for proof because there would be no point.
But if they just started rambling like the Jesse What The Hell Are You Talking About meme… actually, I would just ignore them, because life’s too short. But it would definitely be in the back of my head, what could possibly have possessed them to think that.
What’s weirder is saying you would ignore it but would still engage in the discussion.
Do you have a habit of enjoying things you dislike?
Surely you’ve heard of the concept of watching a trainwreck.
Depends on the person and the drunk. Some people are adamant that they’re right and what they say is factual.
Well yea. But not in the context you are insinuating.
“Argh damn twinks!” - because there would be a geared out lvl 19 hunter 2 tapping people and gy farming you in wsg the entire bg.
If you’ve never lived it, how can you accurately comment on its usage?
Even after being corrected, you still act like you are right.
“Well that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen!” - if you roll a dice. You are bound to hit a certain combination at least once.
Same could be said with the millions upon millions of players over the course of 20 years.
And throwing a net with a blanket statment like “both can be true” is dishonest at best.
Yeah this is more of a garbage fire at this point with a few really interesting bits.
Sorry to disappoint.
Sounds like something a stinky alt would say.
Doi, Chat GPT doesn’t make me imagine things it’s telling me.
Imagine that; AI flipping the script and telling you to mentally visualize your own prompt back at you?
And everyone is afraid of AI, It’s already getting lazy.
