They can never respect their time line

$0.167 if im not mistaken.

Honestly, Yes. Cause even after the extended time, they have to do resets, Fix more bugs. Take the time, patch it right. Been 19 years and clearly the way of doing it isnt working well, so find another way.

What time is it supposed to be online?

and now it’s 10 hours of down time. I can kiss playing today goodbye.

No
they can NEVER respect their own timeline.

If I was a person to be petty i’d bring up the fact at blizzcon they say they are moving to a philosophy of respecting the players time
then say how much of a bad start this is.

This may be the single most illogical post I’ve seen on the internet, let alone the WOW forums. But rather than eviscerate you for your obvious shortcomings, let’s try this: Have you ever been late for anything? School? Work? A date? Anything at all? If the answer was yes, was it because you were lazy?

An 8 hour maintenance equals not even 25 cents worth of playtime. Simmer down.

Oh, heaven forbid! The world might just stop spinning for those grueling 10 hours. Perhaps take up a hobby like watching paint dry? It might feel more productive than waiting, at least.

Why would I cry though I don’t get it.

Things happen. It’s a technical game so it takes a lot of work to get these things up and running. Things don’t always go as smoothly as planned. Put on your big boy pants and wait like everyone else.

To make it clear, its not Lazyness for their lack of trying. its lazyness for not seeing a greater issue and fixing the problem. I also always show up 15 mins early to every appointment or work.

Omg guys I logged in to see if they came up early and

So now Blizzard is supposed to be psychic? Or prescient? Congratulations, you’ve 1-upped your logical fallacies.

Clearly no clue what it takes to make something work and go live with it.

This sort of ignorance about IT realities is why technicians HATE their customers with the fury of a thousand suns.

No amount of planning, forethought, time, money, effort, skill, whatever it is you believe there should be more of will prevent these sort of issues from happening sometimes.

The fact that a major update to multiple server clusters that are all interlinked and synchronised together (some of which aren’t even on the same side of the planet) can be turned around in under 24 hours even when there is issues is insanely good.

Even having a completely identical second set of servers that the upgrade is done on in advance and they can swap in won’t always go flawlessly.

Your expectations are just completely out of touch with the reality of IT work.

They’re out of touch with more than just that lol

Well, at least we will know when we are able to play or not, rn we can just wait and pray for the 5PM to be the good one

Well, Psychic is a bit much. But Like you said, you cant foresee everything, so you make sure you have the time you need for the things you dont expect. So you make sure you have the time to do the job and see what things happen, you test it. Its been on the PTR for how long? The bug reports that come in should help with a lot of things. But again doing a full 24 hour take down with a chance of it coming back up early is better than “X time down and Oh we are extetnding it another hour.”

divide that by 4 because they’re still providing 3 types of classic services that are included in your subscription.

It guy here. Work in these kind of infra you’re describing.

I agree with almost all your points. Its true, people outside IT (and even many inside) can’t understand the complexities.

But. This happens on every major patch here. This can be planned better.
