My mom lives in Olympia. The price of their house doubled the last year, they almost sold and moved again because it was so much money.

my mom has a house she still owes 50k on.

she purchased it for 89k roughly 20 years ago. (refinanced seeveral times)

zillow is estimating its worth 450k now

she could sell it, move to arkansas and buy an even bigger house in cash, and still have 200k+ left over.

i know arkansas doesnt have as much money making opportunities but that still just seems so crazy to think about.

i wish i knew when i was younger just how much of an asset a house can truly be, i would of made it a top priotirty sooner rather than wasting my time . oh well… live and learn

I live in Arkansas and work remotely out of Chicago (although I’ve lived in AR my whole life). It’s the way to do it. You would be shocked what $89 a square foot got me in suburban Arkansas in 2014, as well as what it’s worth now. You guys are a little bit late to the game in terms of buying up cheap housing, as it is way up here too. 450k is not a big house here any more unless you are way tf out in the bfe. Specifically in the population hubs (Jonesboro, central ar, nwa), we’ve seen the same influx of people from the coasts and institutional investors driving up costs. Although there are good opportunities in those areas, and it might still be a tad bit cheaper than where you are now, but not by much.

Problem with that is everyone’s home values went way up in the past 1-2 years. I couldn’t afford the house I bought in 2020 if I tried to buy it today in the current market. real-estate is wild. lol

Why do you escrow? Seems pointless

I guess if you cannot save money then escrow is good?

I feel like I’m forced to rent because buying anything at my 250k and below price range is super rural or really in the hood.

I live in Chester County PA and everything is like 400k+ even for a 100+ yr old house lol.
Its great out here, good schools central to shopping/resturants. Even if I had my car paid off and jumped up to 350k max its still not enough to get an ok 4/2.

Been looking for 6+ months for a house, might end up having to move out to one of those rural small towns and just drive 1-2 hour to civilization and stuff like costco/sams club lol

I guess some low-tier wagies got offended about home ownership. What a time to be alive lads

Love it. Love everything about it

Idk I’m keen on school ratings and access to grocery stores and bulk shopping. I got 3 kids man I do a lot of my shopping at costco and sams club saves so much $$$. It would be tough to live somewhere that doesn’t have that.

Heck I’m near one of the few microcenter locations in country rn, anytime I need a new mouse/keyboard/headset drive right over and get it.

Living rural and not having access to any resturant/buisiness/grocery/fast food/mall in your vicinity sounds tough.

The more rural/small town areas of PA do have nice schools but there is nothing in costco or sams club, resturants and whatnot. I’m not even sure they have 1k internet speed out there

My home appraised for 30% more than it did just 5 years ago. The market is crazy rn. I’m not sure if the prices will come back down either.

Bought my house in 2020 for 309k just had it appraised and its at 464k now!! Decisions decisions!

Yea man. I was living with my buddy out in North Bend, WA for a few years. Over the course of 5 years he bought his house which was an absolute dump at the time for $300k, did some renovation and sold it last year for $600k+ and the value has gone up to like $800k this year.

Meanwhile, I’m living in Bellevue WA with my GF in 1-bedroom apt, $2k+ rent, with no possibility of buying a house in sight lol.

This is all Bidens fault… Stolen elections have consequences.

Preach it man. Hopefully this is that clowns only term!

You should see housing costs in my area.

A condemned house sold for 900k and was demolished and rebuilt then listed for 2.2 mil.

Sounds like the initial value had nothing to do with the house and was all about the land parcel

My house has 5xd in 13 years since being built. Washington housing just is sky rocketing faster than GME

Oh ya just all about location.

who says stuff like this lmfao
