Testing out the DPS using the new cobra shot talents and comparing it to other builds, and the new talents just feel like unnecessary bloat in an already button spammy class. When you take the talents for a single target build, I end up doing roughly 200k-300k less dps than the talents I gave up to take them, in almost every situation.
With enough haste, I’m already fighting the GCD to spam Kill Command and Barbed Shot on their resets. The Cobra Shot talents just cause me to fight the GCD even MORE than before, loweing my overall dps because I can’t get my necessary procs off fast enough.
I don’t think the devs know what they want BM to do at this point. From being a DoT class with the bleed talents, to a spammy burst class with the Kill Command changes. I think BM, and Hunter in general, needs a step back and look into what fantasy and direction they want to go.
The issue was that BM felt absolutely terrible to play at low haste.
Those talents let you play BM at low enough haste (and as DR) without suffering as much.
There is nothing wrong with talents for a distinct playstyle even if it’s not the top dps choice.
We have been a spammy class with kill command since at least legion. It’s just that there were some other additional mechanical things on top of it, but the amount of damage we’d get from “dots” (not account for barbed shot) was absolutely minimal and it was only there as a diff way to prop up pets.
