This will sound biased… and it is a bit :stuck_out_tongue: but I like the idea of gods having favorites in a fantasy world. This gives the impression that the gods actually have a personality and opinion of their own instead of being this boring, perfect entity as some people always expect from gods.

Of course, I don’t want only the night elves to gain recognition from the higher beings, let An’she favor Tauren and Primus becoming more and more interested in Forsaken.

Elune although universal power, is useless for most of the game. Compare her to Bwonsambdi. He’s now the greatest Loa for trolls, helps the Horde in BFA and then in Shadowlands, he saves the souls of trolls when other races are condemned to The Maw. Later he defeats Mueh’zala and rescues other Loa, helping restore peace to Ardenwelad. He’s done more in one expansion than Elune has done in the last three. Of course, he is way much closer to the horde, but all players loves him. Even if Elune is higher in the power hierarchy, the game shows Bwon much more useful. The last time Elune truly help in overall story when she purifies her tear in Legion.

I have the same problem with titans and void but I understand that not everyone has to like Elune themes,

even if I really want this to be true, she’s always presented as a being of Life

My only issue with this is if they present Elune as an unambitiously good diety when we actually meet her, because she was apparently fine with the Nelf empire doing some abhorrent things until they started summoning Demons

10/10 troll post, op.

What “abhorrent” things? Letting the trolls live in peace instead of conquering them? Advancing world knowledge of the Arcane and the stars? Protecting the gaping wound of Azeroth by building their entire civilization around it? Tending to nature and studying from the Wild Gods in the path of druidism?

How abhorrent!

I think he means the Kaldorei empire expansion, which was pretty violent and at one point had a night warrior being at the front if legend is correct.

Then Elune should hate every race, since every race expanded at one point or another.

Of all the mortal races, Night Elves are the only ones who created an entire civilization and culture around the worship of Elune and this is just factual.

That is why, of all the races, it is the Night Elves who are the Moon Goddess’ favoured.

I’m not arguing anything about that, i’m just explaining what he probably meant.

Elune is a relic of an earlier era of the lore. She is in a lot of ways Eilistraee with her serial numbers filed off; the Kaldorei were ‘good’ drow and wood elves put in a blender, after all.

As she is designed as a full scale Goddess on a tier level above wild gods and loa, she could never really interact with the setting often, and when she did it needed to be a dramatic enough of a miracle to match the tone they were looking for with her. If she does too much, it would begin to feel like Deus Ex Machina and cheapens her actions.

There is also a risk of dispelling Elune’s greatest asset: Her mystery. The more we know about her, the smaller she gets. Few people ACTUALLY want to see the woman behind the curtain. It is enough she exists and aids us in an aloof fashion.

Apart from Night Elf fatigue, there’s also the fact that Shadowlands screwed the pooch a bit with Elune.

In short, Shadowlands made Elune look incompetent and instead of acknowledging that she seems to be more like a First One and/or the closest thing the Warcraft setting has to a big-G God, they made her a mere agent for one of the six cosmic forces.

I also have the theory that maybe some people don’t like the idea of Elune being the setting’s big-G God and oppose her for that reason.

I hate how Blizzard wasted Elune’s first appearance just to show her as an idiot. Seriously, who thought this was a good idea? Isn’t the night warrior was called the avatar of Vengeance? She should’ve been furious and try stop Zo’val, not cried one theatrical tear. If Blizzard hadn’t banned Tyrande from doing anything and allowed her help kill Jailer after By our Hand, I would’ve somehow forgiven that terrible cut scene. Yes, she messed up, but she actively wants to help fix it.

It always irritated me that no big representatives of life were active in SL. Instead we have a palladin, mage and shaman with no powers. It’s like paladin and priest will never showed up in Midnight .

I would love to see Elune as the First One or at least a bridge between the six Pantheons and the First ones. If they play this well, something really great can come out. Xal calls Elune an “upstart goddess” which means that she may be trying or has already managed to gain power equal to or close to the level of the First Ones.

If that is not enough, let her be the leader of the Pantheon of Life at a level of power equal to Aman’thul. which will be more boring :unamused:

I also don’t want Elune to be torn apart from the mystery, but Blizzard never finish her storylines. When they touch on her topics, it seems as if they stopped writing halfway through.

Elune appears to fix Ysera… And that’s it while the Legion was still attacking. They also never explain her relationship with Titans Pillars, Xe’ra and Xal’atath (why their names are so similar!? :dracthyr_uwahh_animated:)

Under Teldrassil, she gave new power to Tyrande, turning the tide of the warfront and thats it, she did nothing about return of N’zoth/Black Empire she fought against long time ago and are the reason her brother is in a coma.

In SL we hear Winter Queen is her sister but how this is work? How are they ended in ontehr pantheons? they are really bioligical sisters? Did embrace story talk about winter queen as a blue child? How his connection work?Power of the night warrior could destroy entire civilizations and even the Old God in full power but we never see it.

Elune is surprisingly little mentioned in Emerald Dream. Green dragons seem to worship Elune while are also very pro-Titan. How her tree magically became a cable magic between the Aspects and the soul of Azeroth?

In TWW the roots will probably be forgotten halfway through the first patch.

I know that some questions are better left unanswered, but that doesn’t mean that all of them should be like that Apart from SL, all cutscenes with Elune took place at the very beginning of the story, leaving us hoping for more. But more never came.

you forgot Baine.

he warmed those floors up real nice.

(Baine should have gotten a spirit walker/breaker upgrade)

honestly… I would replace this senseless Tyrande chasing, on the story about Baine becoming a spirit walker of Ardenweald. At least one of them wouldn’t be completely useless.

What I would have done:

Tyrande - Starts to go absolutely feral with hate while hunting Sylvanas. Her drawing on the NW juices starts effecting other Elune worshippers who were otherwise rescuing nelf souls driving them to abandon their efforts and join Tyrande’s hunt and the situation becomes kind of a metaphor for what she thinks the nelves should prioritize after the WOT, and “Vengeance or Renewal” does not end up being about Sylvanas at all, rather if the Nelves should whittle themselves down in a blood frenzy against the Horde or rebuild and repopulate.

Jaina - A full resolution of her story since Cata where it’s ended more concretely than “I forgave myself”, have the Jailer torment her by using her victims as a weapon against her, but eventually have it show that the amount of people she saved from when she was doing heroics or did choose peace far outpaced it.

Anduin - Roughly the same but instead of getting turbo-depression, I’d have him stay behind for awhile to learn as much as he could from the deceased leaders of Azeroth since he’ll never get another golden chance and his biggest flaw as a leader beyond his spinelessness is how sheltered he is.

Thrall - Between talking to his mom and seeing so many of his people in the better afterlives, even ones who served in the 1st/2nd wars, he starts getting his mojo back and really gets his mojo back once its clear what the ultimate stakes are. Round 2 vs Helya goes far differently.

Baine - The Jailer doesn’t even bother re-imprisoning him after casting him off as worthless, a group of deceased Spirit walkers/breakers come to train him, and he is ultimately the wildcard that tears apart the Jailer’s plans since he was overlooked, making the Jailer’s hubris and arrogance directly the reason he lost.

The first thing I would do with Tyrande is to show, that her anger isn’t a bad thing. Whisperwind in BFA seemed to somewhat forgive the Horde, understanding that it was Sylvanas fault. If she went feral, she would probably want to kill the entire Horde, but she understands that they were used.
Hunting Sylvanas is not a bad thing. At that point, she was working for Satan, and after seeing what she did to the Kaldorei souls, Tyrande had every right to focus on catching her. Everyone should understand this and help her. As long as Jailer and Sylvanas were still scheming, there was no chance for a real Renewal for Night elves.

Tyrande doesn’t separate herself from us in The Maw and leads the hunt for Sylavans throughout all Shadowlands story. Let the night warrior’s powers be our trump card and let her fight Sylvanas several times instead of one encounter that doesn’t change anything.

Just kick her out of this expansion. Apart from a few sentences with Uther, she has nothing to do here. They even ignored her in Arthas plot. Let Tyrande take her place as a magician who shoots pretty deadly missiles in all directions.

I have no idea. Maybe I’d like to see a little more of his interest in Bastion. How the Shadowlands influenced his view on the Light.

I would put them both in Ardenweald. There, Baine would learn to be a Spirit Walker and Thrall would learn more about Spirit and Decay, which would help him better understand all the elements. And of course very needed reunion with Vol’jin

You remember what happened to her?

I just read up on her to figure out what you two were talking about and apparently Eilistraee was assassinated only to later resurrect…

Well yeah… But Forgotten Realms is a whole mess. People think Blizzard is bad at retcons, they got nothing on total literal rearranging of the cosmos and its gods like what… three times now?
