There's apparently a housing TEAM, relax about dev time

I’ve said elsewhere that when people complain about dev time spent on housing when, like, raids or M+ or PVP are lacking, I will lead a parade through those conversations singing that it’s all worth it. I’d still do that, but I won’t have to.

There’s a housing team. The devs have said it point blank. They’re rather safely presumably hired, working on and dedicated to housing. Indeed we saw the job postings “clandestinely” go up ages ago when they looked to recruit people to flesh out what various furniture looks like, for example, in an orc’s aesthetic.

So relax, you’re not losing or getting lesser raid tiers. That’s on an entirely different team. The resources are spent. Relax. Aim your criticisms where they belong.

Or don’t, I’m not your dad. Just talking sense.

Where? It should be illegal at this point for people to make claims on the internet without providing sources.

If they have said this (I don’t think they have) then which other team(s) did they cannibalize to form this housing team?

Midnight is all in which is GREAT NEWS!

But we also know they are limited with resources which is why TWW is a mid filler expansion to make Midnight the elite of elite expansions.

Yes, there is a housing team. It’s more than likely part of the Assets / Special Features team. This would be the team that creates expansion features like Dragon Riding, Warbands, etc.

See how video game design works is that you have different teams working on different parts of the game. Compartmentalization of skills and time frames. You DON’T take people from one team and move them to another unless there is a crunch need or they request it. Since the expansion is still a year out, crunch is off the table.

Midnight is going to be great. You can feel all the energy going into that expansion while TWW feels like Dragonflight lite 2.0 which is okay but nothing special.

But Mignight…that is going to be a special expansion…one for the ages…indeed!

There is obviously a housing team. Its not something that the raid and dungeon devs are doing during their lunch breaks.

My dad’s uncle’s friends cousins brothers pet setters neighbor works at GameCube and said they moved the entire raid team to the housing team so midnight will have 0 raids now

now, just imagine if they hired more people to develop actual content that didnt take 8 hours to consume upon a new xpac or patch drop, without having to time gate a 8 part quest over 8 weeks to make it seem like there is stuff to do.

as an achievement guru and collect everything wow i cant wait to run around and collect different color variants of rugs and curtains… not. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

yeah i saw that in the dev post. a housing team i guess thats a new division of team 2

its called the housing development team

Why would they need to cannibalise any team? Just hire more people.

It makes sense for there to be a dedicated team for this as it’s an evergreen feature that will continuously receive new content.

Hiring more people shouldn’t be a problem since this will be a revenue stream due to in-game cash shop sales of housing cosmetics.

I heard that they took the top two employees off each one of the other teams to create the new team for housing.

Wait a second, we got told the entire time in Dragonflight (especially with how lazy season 4 was) that “all the energy is going into TWW”

Yeah I’m not buying any of this

You mean they had a whole other team that could’ve been making more videos of Xal’atath’s feet but they were making housing instead???

There is something funny about blizzard using the raid tier joke in the expansion where we only had 2 raid tiers

I’m not all that concerned about the dev time that may or may not be spent on housing. Not sure much harm can be done with as much as this expansion has been built on old unused assets.

If they continue either reusing stuff or dragging unused stuff out of the vaults then we’ll still end up with the same meager amount of content.
