There's a sickness in the Alliance

Everywhere I look, I see the same thing. Alliance players complaining that their allied races are bad, and that only their selections merit a place.

They claim void elves should have been High elves, high elves are just blood elves with blue eyes and depending upon the person’s headcanon they have faux-celtic tattoos. Nevermind that entropic shadow-elves is a refreshing take on the oversaturated pool of elven races. Compared to yet another unbearably smug elf that can do no wrong.

Yet, they complain about Lightforged, when they are Draenei with golden eyes and tattoos. The Krokuul have no reason to join. Hatuun despises Velen. Draenei society dislikes the Broken as a whole. Their unique class of shaman is already playable by the original draenei.

They’ll complain about Kul Tirans being fat, when the majority of these people haven’t seen a strongman. They’ll ask for Vrykul, yet they are only absurdly tall, lanky humans that were only put in to serve as human historical development. Vrykul hate the humans anyhow, those that didn’t died out in Tirisfal.

As for Mechagnomes. Do you really want Ulduar gnomes? They have the goofiest model in the game, have no free will or personality, and only have a single questline in borean tundra to their name.

Weird. Been playing this game since BC and i see the sickness as the pro-Horde dev team that churns out self inserts to a singular faction.

Didn’t start until Cata. Metzen was never bias against a faction but he certainly normalized the self insert.

A bit melodramatic of a title.

Yes yes, we know, you hate LotR and Legolas. Or, more likely, just Orlando Bloom because a girl you fancied at the time said she would jump his bones within earshot of you… it’s OK, I grew out of hating Leo DiCaprio eventually, I have faith in you.

Guess what? Drizzt Do’urden is still the most infamous edgyboi self-insert marysue in licensed fiction, and we sure as Hell didn’t need two more of him so we could find out which Drizzt is Drizztier.

No, those that DID died out in Northrend after they were slaughtered by adventurers. Ymiron even complains about it in Helheim. My Mag’har Warrior got more blowback from visiting the the class hall upgrade guy one time than either of my humans did in Stormheim during the entirety of the expansion.

Let’s see it with more polygons. Oh wait we did, it’s the heritage armor. Now imagine that with a moving face, more options than “gear mohawk,” and not having to plow through 90 levels just to get it.

Could easily be written otherwise.

One questline more than diaper-cyborgs had before BFA. (Incidentally, this was ALSO the only questline regular Gnomes got after Dun Morogh…) Also forgetting their appearance was introduced via Jeeves in TBC as well as multiple interactions with Mimiron and his assistant.

Haven’t seen a collective outrage about Draenei and Kul Tirans you speak of.

I’m sure people would have preferred KTs with a greater set of body options given there are skinny/normal KTs but that’s all I saw in terms of feedback.

Void elves I think there’s a fair push to give them more skin colour options as some players want to have the same feeling of transformation as the leader. The idea has at least been entertained.

Broken? Yep honestly no problem I don’t like em, but they do share a strong bond with the illidari. Mechagnomes I see no problem with but I understand where you’re coming from for them.

Drizzt is like, the opposite of edgy. He’s a fluffy ball of goodness in an entire species of nothing but edge.

Aesthetic things are inherently subjective. However, if a whole lot of people subjectively agree that something is aesthetically bad, it’s a pretty safe bet that it’s not great. The fact that you keep seeing this opinion should tell you something.

This one gets it.

This should be a hint if you are the lone voice that they are ok.

Seems like you’re not looking very far.

Not everyone. Only Helf fanatics. And their aren’t that many of them.

I’ve heard the opposite where many people enjoy the new horns and tattoos.

And just as many people defended them.

And yet could easily be made smaller to fit through doorways. Not to mention, the storyline of the curse of flesh has existed for a very long time. This storyline for the Vrykul existed since Wrath and the Vrykul have a very long and rich history.

No… only some did. Last time I checked, we worked with some in Wrath, a bunch of them in Legion and some left the Drust because they didn’t follow Gorak Tul’s dark magic and thirst for blood.

They have actual lore and history. Junker Gnomes don’t. But there are quite a few people who are happy with them. There were threads where people were hoping they’d become a playable race.

Your views are very narrow and bitter. You spent a lot of time in another thread insulting people over your bias and anger.

Surprised Jinyu is not an Alliance AR

If it had been jinyu and vulpera no one would have complained at all

Broken draenei also show us they can rogues and warlocks.

Also giving lightbulb goats more lightbulbs is honestly a joke… it’s as bad as the Horde getting HMT with no cultural differences from base tauren but are given driuids despite no example of drudism in hmt society.

Because everyone loves those space goats. They have more curves than a sphere. And have you played with that tail? My god… Tickle me pink, they have the most funnest race in game

Well, I can understand a little bit of the Outrage. Races like Wildhammer, Vrykul, and High Elves have been widely requested for quite some time. On the other hand, the ARs they’ve gotten aren’t bad; they just aren’t what was wanted.

  • Void Elves: May be lacking in the way of Lore, but they are at least conceptually interesting (and they certainly DO stand out in an oversaturated Elf world). They are also likely going to see MASSIVE developments with having Alleria as their rep, and with so much LIGHT and VOID content on the horizon.
  • Lightforged Draenei: I rarely see complaints about (beyond the occasional person that would have preferred Broken, and there is a point to be made there). While I personally find them a tad boring, they might actually see some interesting relevance should the LightBOUND return.
  • DarkIron Dwarves: IMO one of THE BEST ARs in this game.
  • Kul Tirans: I get that people aren’t fond of their portly physique, but honestly you have to admit a TON of work was put into them. They are the only AR that was built from the ground up with a custom frame, and Kul Tiras DOES have a rich history and brings some cool lore into the Alliance with them.
  • MechaGnomes: These are honestly about as close to true MechaGnomes as you could conceivably get as a PC race. TRUE Mechagnomes aren’t a RACE, and thus cannot be ALLIED with (they are automatons, and a hive-mind to boot). Also, at least on a conceptual level … these little GnomeBORG are RIPE with future storytelling (they are a people who have adopted a practice of extreme selfmutilation, am I the ONLY one who finds that interesting)?
