I believe this will cause too much confusion for the general population as Blizzard will be promoting two different versions of WoW with two different story lines.
Eventually we will get TBC and Wrath as those 2 are the safer options for Blizzard to go down, as it’s guaranteed a positive response from the majority of the population.
Meanwhile, retail will be continuing to release expansions, in which I predict there will be 2 more expansions released (4 years) before we see the last content of Wrath).
From there, Blizzard will have a good understanding into what makes Classic special, and what didn’t work for retail. This will ultimately lead to a merger of the two games where we see the best features of the two brought together
I call this version WoW 2 with a release date of 2025.
That is not what I have been hearing. But than who am i right.
The release of TBC and wrath was mentioned by Blizzard even before release date of Classic.
Also Blizzard said they wanted to see what the players wanted.
So yes Classic+ could happen but that depends on the community being organized and how loud they are.
But than who am I right.
Blizzard did say they’re considering TBC. I am down with idea of Classic+ but if Blizz just goes with TBC, that’ll be fine with me as long as they remove the flying so the world keeps its grandeur and size. Also flying kills WPVP and you’re wrong if you think otherwise.
There’s little reason for them not to; classic has a finite ammount of content and the following two expansions were the height of the game’s popularity despite what some hipsters will argue.
I wouldent say those are safer, since both TBC and Wrath have alot of the very things alot of the classic populaiton is against, not to mention a even bigger chunk of the classic pvp comunity…
I seen where TBC goes, its the start of the retail path, and i personally wont go down that path again…
This IS Classic+. As to whether we get expansions… that should be obvious, if this does well. The question is if they’ll do them all, or just crusade/wrath. I’d be fine with them just having these 3, as the game went down the toilet afterwards. The thought of ANYONE actually wanting Cataclysm back makes me chuckle. This game should have just ended with wrath. After this point, every story from WC 3 was concluded, the rest may as well be garbage fan fiction. Nothing was ever going to top illidan/arthas.
I did play BC the first time. It wasn’t as good an experience as Vanilla, and unlike Vanilla, it wasn’t good enough for me to play again.
I was subscribed for Wrath but it was bad enough that I didn’t play it.
Not going to go down that path again. Classic+ or incorporating the lessons from Classic into Retail are the two ways they keep my sub. The 8.3 AH changes suggest they are taking Retail the wrong way.
The only way i’d be ok with expansions is if they have their own servers. Classic is such a time sink, either it’s gearing fully from 40 man raids to the crazy honor grind. I don’t want all of the time spent here to be erased. Classic servers need to remain legacy servers.
That seems to be the goal here; having separate servers preserves classic while allowing players of later expansions to enjoy the expansion as it was.
The only other real alternative is for blizzard to let classic go stagnant which will only lead to a slow death for classic as people realize that they have their BiS stuff or that there isn’t enough of opposing faction left to constitute worthwhile pvp.
Because classic+ is the biggest pipe dream there ever was.
Blizz already stated that the classic servers will keep going, regardless if people play or not, and considering there was a interest for classic servers 15 years later, still shows there is interest for it…
It is my understanding that certain features that came with TBC will never be accepted be a rather big portion of the classic supporters, im not saying there will be a iterest for TBC, im just saying im fairly sure the big support is for classic…
And if blizz want to keep all the new subs, going down the retail path isnt going to keep classic players by going down the same retail path we all seen, thats a paradox on your behalf… classic can essentially only be kept alive by going classic +, or staying classic…
Then if you want to petition for stand alone TBC servers, go ahead, but in my opnion that have very little to do with classic
i like many others will never go down the tbc path again, and the biggest proof against TBC servers is, that there never were any big private TBC servers, and there never been a big petition to bring TBC servers back, face it, classic have had a huge backing during all these years and still have
A sizable chunk of players supported Classic specifically to get TBC and wrath.
Furthermore, Classic+ is a pipe dream; no two people can agree on what it should be or do other then “not retail” and somehow still in the spirit of classic wow (whatever that actually is) and developed by people who are probably not interested in a style of gameplay that the world has largely moved on from.
