lol, more dollars than sense strikes again
I sort of wonder if they felt they had to choose between AOTC mount and Mage Tower appearances? Like, they’re not going to make a bunch of new stuff for this. The whole point of Remix is filler content before a new xpac. They shouldn’t be turning in a ton of dev time that’s better spent on Midnight.
If AOTC mount comes back I hope it’s locked behind 100% the achievements.
Because they decided they’d try something new?
Testing waters to do it again later. There’s an aotc mount every expac after mop whereas there’s only mage towers in legion.
I’d actually argue WoD. I remember participating in a 24 hour archimonde farm livestream where we just carried people for charity and I want to say they had done it before.
Either way I think that’d be a silly distinction to make, and the more obvious answer is Blizzard just changed their mind on this aspect.
This logic boggles the mind.
How about they bring back some of it, to make some people happy? But not everything? You know…. give an inch without someone demanding the whole universe?
“Hey you want some chips?”
“GIMME THE WHOLE BAG OR DONT EVEN OFFER ACGMQJJAKH!!!”
Give the free gold giveaway that was WoD Garrisons, that wasn’t even pocket change lol.
I think they came close to bringing back the wolf for MoP, but ended up not pulling the trigger. It seems that this time around they’ve decided to pull the trigger. I imagine there’s a non-zero chance this could change, given that Remix is still rather far out and technically nothing’s finalized yet. This could end up like the wolf, where it was seemingly planned to be included but they go back on it.
The Kor’kron Warwolf was supposed to be available in MoP Remix from the start. Ideally, it would be available as an achievement for killing Garrosh in HC or Mythic.
But no, for some stupid reason, Blizzard didn’t have to do that, just to make the Violet Spellwing available later in Legion Remix.
Blizzard’s first-class double standard.
The AOTC mount should not return, it is a huge mistake that Blizzard made.
At this point, they probably are bringing back the Spellwing and Dead sets to start drama. Blizzard knows that this sort of thing will start debates / fights / spam threads which keeps many people engaged on the general forum, though people always have something they are unhappy about. If there is no special drama, we can always default to wanting to nerf the meta specs.
It would be funny if in a month Blizzard did a “we are listening to public feedback, here is some random chase reward in MT”.
Would be funny if it was the book mount retinted after beating the 7 challenges again in Legion Remix.
I would have loved to have been in that meeting.
Imma be real this makes no sense to me.
Mage Tower skins that could be facerolled with Antorus gear holds more ‘prestige’ than a FLAWLESS Mythic set and an AOTC mount?
Where does blizzard draw the line? Because its pretty squiggly
Not even a tinfoil hat theory, it’s probably true.
Raid carries existed here and there in MoP, BUT there were no repeatable flex IDs. So there were no boosting communities, only guilds who were able to carry 1-2 people per lockout, if any. So people had to either work for their mount - or find a guild on their server that provided such “services”.
Legion however already had the professional carry communities, plus the WoW token so players could comfortably buy gold for these services.
In my opinion I would just throw in the korkron along with the violet spelllwing as an apology for not putting the korkron in it the first time around.
Would it seem unorthodox yes but the playerbase that missed out on both mounts would like that change.
I guess the difference is someone could have gotten the Spellwing by paying for a carry while the MT was a solo only mode.
There are 3 ways Blizz could make this right:
-
Revert the decision to include the Violet Spellwing in Legion Remix. This isn’t ideal for people who want the mount, but it would be fair and more consistent with past decision-making (like keeping the Kor’kron War Wolf out of MoP Remix).
-
Include the Mage Tower appearances in Legion Remix, either by making the tower challenges available again or offering recolors that are different from the originals.
-
Make the Kor’kron War Wolf available. If they’re going to bring back Violet Spellwing, it doesn’t make sense to gatekeep the AOTC mount from MoP. Bring the wolf back and balance the scales.
I am not sure that is a good excuse. People bought carries for the Mage Tower too (though not legally). Not to mention at the end we had so much gear that if you wanted to get it done it really was not much of an achievement.
Also, that logic invalidates those people who did work for it, and who might be just as proud of their achievement as people who did the Mage Tower.
Like I said, they start off by saying that these limited achievements are a point of pride for people and that they are important to preserve, but in the same post also say they are bringing some back. It’s a double standard.
Either give us all the limited appearances, or treat them all the same and give us none.
This is like multiple slaps in the face here.
I worked by butt off to earn my Violet Spellwing. Antorus was my first raid in this game. I think everyone should have the opportunity to earn theirs in an evergreen, scaled and tuned Antorus, but absolutely not this way. Not in Remix. This cheapens the achievement and the prestige of the mount. “But you could buy AOTC.” Sure, but it’s still faster and easier by orders of magnitude to fly through bronze orbs and earn thousands of currency with daily LFR activity than it is to farm gold.
This decision also feels disingenuous. The Korkron wolf was not OK, but the Violet Spellwing is. Why? Did Venruki and other streamers not cry about this one? Does their opinion matter more than ours, and should it matter more?
And the MT appearances – apparently those are off the table because it’s an earned achievement, but AOTC is on the table despite it being the same? The original MT awarded a weapon appearance. The current MT awards an entire class set. That speaks volumes about how much more difficult the developers believe the current challenge is. Just throw in the original MT weapon mogs already.
