I think it’d be cool if Blizzard released a set of transmog items for each gear slot where it lets you change the color of the item. For example, there could be a cape for transmog that I could then make black. This way my character can run around with a cool-looking black cape.
I’ve wanted that ever since playing Wildstar and experiencing the ability to recolor pretty much every aspect of my gear. Not sure if WoW’s game engine would allow for that. Who knows?
You can change the color of tabards so I’d imagine at least they could do a cloak capable of doing the same.
wait, what? how do u change the color of a tabard?
Maybe you could change your guild tabard to be whatever color you wanted, but i’m not aware that a person can change the color of a designed tabard such as “Arathor Battle Tabard” or “Tabard of the Scarlet Crusade”.
How about we can dye our gear instead?
I would love a dye system for gear, so all my gear can be pink .
i think diablo 3 had a gear dying option, right? not sure, been so long since i played it.
but yeah, would be nice for wow too
Yeah but then tier sets would have to be more about visual changes instead of just different colors.
There was a blue post a while back that tried to argue that the armor sets are not modeled in a way which would allow for dye to work very well.
Seemed like a cop out, but I don’t know enough to argue against it.
Rift did this better as well- dyes to apply to armor.
I would imagine they could probably do it with new armor sets if they wanted to. Going back and changing all of the existing armor in the game to be dye compatible is probably too big an ask.
But I think there’s also significant benefit for Blizzard in not doing it, because they love using recolors of the same sets as rewards for different things, and the value of those goes down significantly once players can color the armor themselves.
Only guild tabards
I guess if the game never had dying gear intended at launch there might be some issues. But who knows if they just do not want to do it or not?
