There should be an NPC For disabling dynamic flight in older zones

So, I’m well aware that the 10.2.5 patch has just dropped and that dynamic flight is a much-appreciated feature being brought to all zones of the game for the majority of players. However, I feel like an NPC to disable this feature would be a useful addition before War Within releases for a few reasons.

  1. The dynamic flight system absolutely requires full attention from the rider. Even the most afk method of flying really high into the sky and pointing yourself in the general direction of where you want to go requires a modicum of attention, otherwise you risk slamming into the ground and having to repeat the process.

  2. Not having an NPC to switch back and forth means that you either cannot have a Dynamic Flight mount as a favorite mount in order to always get TBC flying mounts, or that you can’t use the “Random Favorite Mount” summon option and are forced to put a TBC flying mount on your action bars, or open the mount collection journal and manually mount from there.

  3. Overall, with all the other quality of life changes coming to the game, this seems like a massive oversight as some people, especially when doing repetitive actions or flying to old content for mounts, transmogs, or pets, like to be able to just mount up, hit the auto-run button, and then be able to go watch a video, or grab food and drink, or a plethora of other activities they could do while auto-flying to their destination. They now have to take extra steps in order to what they’ve been doing for years.

While I’ve outlined what the solutions to this problem are (Not favoriting dragonriding mounts, putting normal mounts on action bars, putting dragonriding mounts on action bars, not using summon random favorite mount button) these are still minor annoyances to someone who primarily utilizes the summon random favorite mount feature which could have been avoided by considering that not everyone would want to use dynamic flight in old zones all the time.

So you’d rather return to a major city every time you want to switch between the two? Seems like that would be a bigger inconvenience than simply putting another mount button on your action bars.

We are going to have a toggle of sorts, but it probably won’t be until the TWW pre-patch. Unfortunately, your very specific needs will likely not be met until then. So, I would prepare to work around your annoyances for a few months.

For myself specifically, I don’t want to switch between the two. I’d prefer to AFK fly in old zones and keep dynamic flight for the dragon isles, and I’m sure I’m not the only person who would like that to be an option available to us.

But you can do that already. Just put your dynamic flight mount on the action bar along with your preferred static flight mount.

I don’t care if they add a toggle or not, I’ll only use dynamic flight from here on out. It just seems unnecessary when a solution is already available in game. If they do it, fantastic, if not oh well.

As I’ve already stated, yes there are solutions the players can do on their own to achieve the desired result. Just because the players are able to circumvent it and achieve the same effect doesn’t mean that it’s not an oversight to not have an NPC available to toggle the feature off/on for those who don’t want it.

Edited to add: At the end of the day it should not fall on the player to find their own fix for something that should have been implemented in the first place.

Why do you want an NPC for that though? A toggle would be so much better than having to travel to a NPC.

NPC was just the first thought that came to my mind, I think having a toggle in the options pane, especially in the newly added mounts section under accessibility, would be splendid so it can just be turned on/off at whim

Just need a toggle option/spell in general tab really.

I don’t understand the problem, here.

Just taking myself as an example:
If I want to use dynamic flying in old world, I use my Cliffside Wylderdrake
If I don’t want to use dynamic flying in old world, I use my Heartbound Lupine. Or my Pureblood Firehawk. Or my Leywoven Flying Carpet. Or any number of non-dynamic-flying mounts.

What’s the issue?

You “disable” it currently by using a non dragonriding mount. Its not full, across the board dynamic flight yet.

I don’t believe it ever will be full-sent dynamic flight as there’s been no indication that every flying mount will eventually be capable of dynamic flight that I’ve seen, but it would be nice for there to be a toggle for it. I like to use random favorite mount to switch up my mount every time, so this problem is only going to become more prevalent when more mounts are capable of dynamic flight.

Nothing broken, nothing to fix. What you ask comes when most flying mounts get dynamic flying, and in a much better way, as just a ui button.

I’m thinking they wana use a dragonriding mount but want it to act like a normal flying mount. Only thing I can think of.

…Why not just ask for a toggle on the ability bar to switch between dynamic and static on the fly? (Literally even)

This just seems oddly convoluted here for just having your favorite mount dragonride…

Okay so, i’m assuming you’re saying you basically want something like Warmode or like Zimdormi to phase (litteraly) to different time zones of the area, but with no Dynamic flying, so you can get to those things without much worry…

To that i will say… i think it’s better to ask what i’ve suggested above, as well shorter spawn times and higher drop rates that are easily in the double digits very least, since this is old content…

The proper solution and what the players want is removal of legacy flight in all zones.

Just dont use it. Why is everything a problem that someone else has to fix ?

I would like an NPC to turn off my abilities in game, as my character is now a pacifist and does not want to participate in conflict.

I know that I could just unbind my hotbars, but no.

this is incredibly niche…

In TWW, we’ll just be able to land and toggle it on and off. For now though, just ride old flying mounts to fly slow and DR mounts to fly fast.
