With the patch, I decided to use the profession knowledge point reset on my leatherworking to better spend the points to benefit myself, but being the dumb dumb I am, I went and spent 80 out of the 229 I had in the leather armor tree instead of the mail armor one. I openly admit that I made this mistake and own this mess up, but there should be a way as a casual player that isn’t min-maxing my KP earning, and doesn’t have the time to do so honestly, to atone and fix this mistake. I would happily pay 100KG for another point reset, hell I’d even take a week-long lockout of the character or the game entirely as penitents.
Before I’m told I could grind out 80 more points, I’m someone who has 2-3 hours of time I could game on work days, and only one of my days off is a full free from chores day. Even if I did the extra work, that is still going to be 80 points wasted for the entire Xpac, or until the next point reset.
You’ll want to move this to the Professions forum or submit an in-game suggestion, as the development team does not visit the support forums for feedback, and the SFAs here (Blues) do not liaise with them.
I don’t believe those points are grindable anyway, especially the production professions, so the amount of time should not be a factor. It’s mainly weekly quests and first crafts.
Patch notes indicate this can only be completed once, yes a post move would be appropriate to professions. Or put in a suggestion in game.
Resets used to not be allowed, you could always earn points to fill all the trees, just chose to spend them wiser.
Tech support can’t help with this.
Edit
Odd, thought i was in tech, but customer support can’t help either.
Reset your specializations once per Dragon Isles profession and once per Khaz Algar profession. Doing so will unlearn all recipes and benefits granted by your specializations and refund your spent knowledge points. The following NPCs allow you to access this feature:
Darla Fluxy can be found in Dornogal, outside of the Crafter’s Enclave.
Does anyone know if the recipe reset also applies to the engineering discoveries you’ve learned through that annoying prototype/notes mechanism and the alchemy discoveries you’ve made?
It’s not a recipe reset, other than in the sense that if you respec your specialzation points you will lose recipes tied to specific checkpoints in the spec tree that you unpoint (but you’ll get recipes that come with the spec points you do choose).
My sincere suggestion:
use an alt you have around and make him a leatherworker. As long as he’s level 70, that’s enough. You’ll get to mail very quickly.
When you make a mistake with more than 50 knowledge points, it’s the quickest way out. And I know very well why I’m telling you this.
It’s cheaper than 100k gold, faster than 1 week of block or any “penance”.
Let that character just learn mail, and then you continue with your hunter leatherworking as you progress.
I feel like it should maybe be once per xpac? Not sure.
At the end of the day, I think for most folks, it feels kind of late. This was much more useful during DF 10.0/10.1 when the system was brand new and mistakes were more likely.
At this point, I had my path mapped out before launch. I guess maybe its useful to folks who came back for TWW but didn’t play DF?
Still even in TWW time, if you have been keeping up with professions, you are likely very close to done, or pushing into trees you kind of don’t care much about.
