Since I started playing this game almost 2 decades ago I have watched the overall behavior within the game deteriorate. It went from a fun social experience to this ultra toxic display of narcissism and overall bad behavior. At one time asking for help would yield numerous people whispering you offering to help you with whatever problem you may be having. Now it is more likely you’ll get whispers from people insulting you and attempting to antagonize you.
There needs to be a system put in place that tracks people for their bad behavior and also tracks people for their good behavior.
Have you been repeatedly accused of theft while leading raids? Those accusations need to be reflected in your social score. Too many complaints and you’ll no longer be able to lead raids or be served with a cool down period where you are temporarily banned from raid lead responsibility.
Are you a person who readily helps others? Is it answering questions, providing guidance, etc? Those deeds also should be reflected in your “In game” social score.
Are you the toxic guy in BG’s who quickly turns on his own teammates whenever faced with a loss? Your teammates should have the ability to decide your social score that can be viewed by every player in the game.
Did you somehow end up with a bad social score? Guess what? You can reverse that bad social score by being a better person, a better player, a better teammate. Good votes on your social score can erase a bad reputation.
Fully knowing every system can be exploited by toxic individuals, it will take proper design and implementation.
If a person is accused of theft, it should take more than 1 complaint in any given situation before a mark is placed in a players social score. Likewise to toxic individuals in BG’s or in any other social situation (I.E you make posts in any general chat then refuse to respond to people who pst you).
Players with good social scores will have access to features within the game. Players with bad social scores, get nothing.
I have never quit playing WOW because of content but I have quit WOW on multiple occasions because of the toxicity of the community. It is time to hold people accountable and start cultivating a more friendly and polite community. This is something that needs to be taken seriously and I will gladly speak with any GM or developer to further explore this suggestion and proper execution.
