Most of my real life friends have been close since High School or before. I don’t want or need a lot of new friends.
You can make WoW acquaintances. Not necessarily friends, but shared interests in game. There are also many discord servers and communities available for people with said shared interests.

I have used the guild finder to join the highest population guilds I can find, and they have all been pretty much ghost towns, maybe 8 to10 people on in prime time and 3 or 4 any other time. I’d love to know where all these “join a guild” people find the active ones. I should also say that the people that are on in these guilds are fantastic people, but the prospect of doing much in the way of end game content is non existent.

People drastically underestimate how far niceness will get you in this game. Just by being a sufficiently friendly, likable person you can get yourself literally carried through a guild farm run to a raid you’ve never stepped into before, while undergeared, ime.
Outside of Mythic teams, most guilds aren’t going to kick someone they really like even if the person performs badly, or misses raids.
There are definitely guilds out there who will take a friendly guildy who explains a tough work situation to Normal on a “when you’re able to come” basis. Like, look for Heroic guilds that do a Normal off-night or something…
OP doesn’t even want to try making social connections, he wants groups to just fall into his lap whenever the mood strikes.
I’m not remotely a social butterfly. Making friends on WoW is not the same as making them irl and is way easier. By “friend” people mostly just mean “person I know who I say hi to in guildchat when they log on and does content with me.”
You’re not looking to find your best man here or something, just somebody who finds you personable enough that they’ll invite you to their alt run when you ask.

You’re right, but they’re not going to include someone either. And yes, some guilds do have a normal run for alts, but if my available time (which again is more or less totally random) does not coincide with that alt night 95% of the time, I’m right back where I started, guild or otherwise.
Guild finder is pretty terrible and isn’t used by end-game guilds. Try the recruitment forums that were linked.

Maybe give FF14 a try. The normal raid can be done at your own pace and you can just que up for them…or least you used to be able to do that. You only need to really use a pug finder for the harder version.

i have more achievements than 95% of the people in this game but im Missing THIS RAID TIERS AOTC so apparently i suck and my 12 others ATOCS dont matter.
Now i cant find a group.
Even when i make a group people wont join because they see i don’t have AOTC.
Blizzard, just make Normal and Heroic easier for gods sakes so this !@$! wont happen.

If bfa teach me something is that bfa had lot of things to do compared to shadowlands, and thats why I liked bfa, even if i didnt do the endgame content.
Now i do the end game content, but i dont wabt to play as much, because there is. Not that much to do

Lol … world boss has like 0 drop rate. I have 4 60’s … I’ve now gone over 25 kills without a drop.
WQ don’t drop 203 until you are overgeared so that doesnt help gear up. you can get to 200ish easy … beyond that its a slwo grind without an organized group and you can;t get into any meaningful content at 200 …
and that’s a SL problem, not a historic one. I’ve never had problems pugging like I have in SL. There’s no loot and peopel have mass quit … so there’s not much going on.
this expo was for organized raiders or PvPers … the rest fo us may as well gtfo.
