There is tons of casual guilds who don't post logs and/or don't care about them

I have been in these guilds. They usually tolerate too many terrible players and struggle to clear easy content, but they exist. The issue from anti-WCL people seems to be they want to play with good players but don’t want to put in the same care and effort into the game that they do; you cannot have your cake and eat it too.

If you want to play with solid players, you have to take the game seriously too. If you don’t care about parses, there are guilds that will take you. They are usually very bad, but they exist. If you don’t care about parsing, you can join these guilds, but you should know what kind of players these guilds usually attract.

I only use WCL to see what other players are doing and seeing what mistakes im making. Highly recommend folks just look at it from this viewpoint and stop gatekeeping people. However, at the same time, encourage others to use it as a resource for you to play your class better. No one wants to carry dead weight. Its a team effort. :person_shrugging::person_shrugging::person_shrugging::person_shrugging:

WCL is a useful tool. But people love to use tools the wrong way.

the OG reason we had logs in the first place now is just oh we only want 95+s in this raid.

Some people like parsing and want to go all 99s, so they need a guild of likeminded players who have the same goal to have a shot. So naturally they are going to have these requirements, and that’s fine.

There is also guilds that don’t care about logs and sometimes don’t even post them. These guilds are not going to have runs as smooth as the former, but everyone raging over WCL logs can join them and do content. But they get mad they cannot join raids with players who care about competing in the raids.

And why is this an issue? People have the choice to join guilds that don’t require this, most do not have requirements that extreme.

As someone that always has straight 95-99s on multiple roles, in multiple versions of the game, i think WCL is the absolute worst.

I used to like it as a fun mini game, but its consumed the game. Everything revolves around parses. No one can just emjoy the game anymore.

Downsizing the raids will increase the gatekeeping even more now. It was never a thing or never this toxic back in 2019 classic since you had so many slots to fill you could pick up anyone.

Add in dual spec and its going to be down to like 11 warriors 5 mages and fotm healer spec that can swap for hard damage (prob shaman)

Well, it would be great to be in a guild that you can raid with. I’ve been in 2 and unless you are maxing and running with the “first group” you’re playing by yourself and pugging raids is a loot s**t show with everyone needing on everything or changing to master loot at the last boss and leaving with everything. I really was hoping for that old wow experience. Oh well.

Our guild don’t care about logs. No gatekeeping on any pre conditions. We pug 1-2 ppl if needed. Clear gno in 1-2 hr depending on how good pugs are. Not a big issue, sometimes it’s the leaders job to make sure ppl know what to do. The mechanics are dead, ppl will get to know them after 2-3 attempts.
It’s not a job interview so you better put your mindset at your work instead of a game

I’m old and handicapped and I still manage blue and purple parses.

If you’re taking SoD seriously, you need to reexamine your life choices.

People want to be able to play poorly without people checking for their performance while also being able to play with the best groups they can find. Typical selfish mentality

Of course.

This. And it’s so funny the people complaining about it, smh.

It really is simple as that.

They do? Nah.
Where does playing poorly, and pulling your own weight intersect?

Parses encourage ignoring mechanics, but I guess if you kill it fast enough the mechanics won’t matter…

Please stop posting this cope, if you’re doing strats like that you’re in a guild built for and adjustments have been made so you’re not actually in danger.

There are plenty of good arguments against parsing but this is one of the worst.

I think you’re connecting the wrong dots, OP. I am one of those people/casuals and I relate to a ton of the posts here and on reddit.

The problem isn’t so much people begging and choosing (can’t speak for everyone), but is about advertisement and chat spam. When 99/100 LFM chats in /trade or /lfg are checking for logs or requiring parse numbers what do you expect the community to think? No one is spamming “lfm no logs no parse check no consumes needed.” Rarely do the guilds that actually are out there with a chill and relaxed environment advertise they’re looking for people to play with.
