There is nothing wrong with store mounts

I’m surprised no one here has mentioned that you can get all of the store mounts using in-game WoW gold! In fact, they are cheaper than most of the other premium mounts you can buy in game. It’s simple:

  1. Buy a WoW Token from the Auction House.
  2. Select “add directly to Blizzard Balance.”
  3. Buy the mount.

It costs about 1.5 WoW Tokens to get the mounts, or ~300,000 Gold. This is roughly the same cost as the new frog mounts, and cheaper than most of the top-end premium mounts from rep grinds (like Lightforged Construct, which is 500,000 gold).

Yes. Once you earn Pathfinder Part II. Not to mention you can fly in Broken Isles/Draenor if you’ve earned their respective Pathfinders not to mention Pandaria, Northrend, Outland, the Eastern Kingdoms, and Kalimdor.

I can’t help but notice that a few people have deleted their responses to some of my posts, listen I respect your right to an opinion 100% as long as you don’t get personal and attack an individual’s character, but rather focus on the argument, go for it…

I do admit though sometimes I’ve withdrawn my posts as I feel okay maybe that’s a little too much of a sensitive issue.

They’re cosmetic items that offer no in game advantage. I’ve never purchased one because none of them are that cool in my opinion, but people can do whatever they want with their money.

Exactly. There are SO many mounts and what, less than a dozen on the cash shop?

That’s your opinion. I have a few mostly because my son wanted them before he had his own account. I don’t use any of them regularly on any of my active characters. I think my Grove Warden, Turbocharged Flying Machine, Cindermane Charger, Llothien Prowler, Hearthsteed, Sunreaver Dragonhawk, etc look much better!

The problem isnt the store mount. The problem is that they clearly spent a lot of time on that mount yet they cant do simple testing to make sure the game works before they release it. If they put the amount of effort into Bfa as they did on that mount the game would be way better

I’ve bought a store mount or two when they were worth it to me. However, you are being a bit naïve if you truly think store mounts are going to operating costs instead of profit. I get you like the company/product but c’mon now.

I generally buy store pets/mounts/transmogs if it’s something I like or I load up on a few each year when they do the discount around the holidays. That said I think the issue, which others have stated, is that Activision/Blizzard is spending resources designing this really great store mounts but aren’t putting in the same amount of effort/resources into mounts that are available through more traditional in game methods. The boars of WoD are an older example of this but even today we have most of the mounts from warfronts and the like being reskins of other mounts. Even mounts that are really cool in game such as the brontosaur, frog or black widow are super expensive and unless you are a full time gold farmer the most realistic way of getting them requires you purchasing wow tokens to sell for in game gold.

They make far more money from race/faction/name change and wow tokens than they ever do with store mounts.

I can certainly agree that the image of store mounts behind a paywall is not good for blizzard. But it is actually possible to earn store mounts in game. (gold for wow token > convert wow token to battle.net balance). If they removed that feature I’d be fully against store mounts.

Activision-Blizzard is ridiculously profitable. The money for these is not in any way required for the content they make. And rewarding the mindset behind these transactions encourages more bad practices, not fewer.

Agreed. It’s purely cosmetic and doesn’t have anything that helps you win or have a advantage. It’s just a cosmetic mount that is optional. Doesn’t really have a actual effect on the content. So yeah, i agree

I would think they can make money if they added buyable races, like in lotro. Have two ways of obtaining them 1: earnable in game by grinding rep and hitting specific achievements to obtain them 2: spend $x.xx (I’d say $14.99us would fine maybe even to much). That way the two type of players that are in this game buyers and earners are both happy. this whole “no you have earn like me and spend countless hours everyday, play wow like tis your job or dont play at all” blah blah blah, i’ve been hearing it for 13 yrs and tbh this type of playstyle is falling by the wayside. It’s either your game changes to what the NEW player base wants …or… well you become the dinosaur that has respect because of how long your game has been around but no one plays. So in closing yes store mounts are fine we all make our own money, we should beable to choose how we spend it, wither its on store mounts/pets/tmogs/services or maybe even races it’s our choice. Its not like the mount that person buys on the store gives them a huge increase of power abouve the other.

Guys, again. You can buy all store mounts with in-game gold. What do people not understand about this? It’s even cheaper than many other in-game mounts. On average, each store mount costs ~200-300k gold. Easy sauce.

I have zero issues with mounts, pets, vanity items being purchasable via micro transactions… as long as gear, achievements, flight etc is never an option to buy its fine.

I only played the back end of WOD so I didn’t experience the content drought and so I actually loved WoD but thats just my opinion

To some it up. Look at current state of game. It fine to make money. When you do not reinvest it in game the problems start. So much wrong with game. Never see a problem making some. At present according to several investor firms and even down wind spiral.

Blizzard makes 1500 dollars for every one it spends on development. That really profitable. That money not going back into games. it going in someone pocket. I can see a 15% profit margin. I can not see a 45% at present profit margin. That to me sounds very wise for long term growth. Most company are in the business to be around for a long time. Gaming company do not plan that far ahead. Reason why my broker tells me to stay away from them. Some might like it for its high returns other do not. The problem is eventually it going to crash.

Ok. Then what, exactly, is the Sub Fee for?

WoD was actually better IMO.

WoD had better dungeons, tier, better intro raid, PvP, and a legendary quest line.

BfA shat the bed with the Neck and Azerite gear shudders

People act like it’s everyone on the WoW team buckling down for months and working on nothing but a paid mount, when it’s probably closer to a few artists and animators doing something in their spare time.

That being said, I still don’t like paid mounts.

Enjoy your recolored horse mounts as you wonder why reused assets become more and more popular as store mounts remain unique.

I sometimes wonder if the understanding of cause and effect skips generations at times. It is like watching someone burn down a forest then complain there isn’t enough wood to chop down the next day.

I didn’t get what all the fuss was about, and what the fuss has been about EVERY TIME, a mount gets released in the store. Cool, there’s a mount you can choose to buy that gives you no advantage compared to any flying mount in the game.

If anything, I thought people would have been outraged over the transmog helmets that are exclusive to being bought with real money that have been there for years.

“Bleh, bleh, Papi Blizzard is trying to milk us for money by selling mounts”. Good. Don’t buy them then. It’s really easy, there’s enough people who buy the mounts despite that they have incentive to make some through the store. Go “Speak with your wallet” and not buy it then.

I don’t buy these mounts and I haven’t noticed any change in the game because of it, nor have I see any distinct advantage from people flying around on a blue fox. Now, if people could buy the hive mind mount from the store, that’d be game advantage that circumvents the work other people have done, that wouldn’t be cool.

This isn’t even a buy 6 months get a mount thing, or buy a year subscription get this mount you can only get through this method type of thing. And I know, there’s always a timing conspiracy every time these mounts come out. THEIR STOCKS ARE DOWN SO THEY’RE SELLING MOUNTS THE END IS NEAR! THEY SOLD THIS MOUNT TO TRY AND GET MONEY BACK FROM PEOPLE QUITTING WHEN THEY NERFED ARCANE MAGES. etc. etc.

No, no. They know there are people who will pay money because they like shiny mounts and don’t mind paying extra real money to get these exclusive mounts. Which, now, with battle net balance you can earn through playing the game, means you can essentially get them without real money too. So yeah.
