Micro-transactions like that are how Blizzard make money along with their other premium services so they can continue to make new content for us.
Look, I accept that BFA isn’t the best expansion but it’s still better than WoD.

This isn’t a free game that is supported by micro transactions alone. That money goes straight into their pockets.
I agree. Those store-bought mounts are a tiny fraction of available mounts. The vast majority are earned one way or another in-game. As such, I have no problem with them putting some really nice ones in the store.
No problem with store bought mounts. They don’t offer you game breaking advantage. Your money, use it however you want
I find 1 thing wrong with that new store mount.
It flies…it has the battle for Azeroth logo behind it.
Can we fly in bfa?
As long as they stick to mounts/pets/transmog or whatever, I don’t care either way. Most of the stuff they put up there is connected to a charity anyway.
Yes, when Pathfinder part 2 comes out and you get the achievement.
My only problem is that they look better than anything you can get in the game from farming.
But I guess they need SOME kind of carrot to tempt people to buy them.
Yes, I agree, but no, I don’t think we need another 100th or so post about it. People threw tantrums over a store mount for the thousandth time in a row, things won’t change, they’ll get over it and move on (or won’t, but who cares), why is it important to keep constantly bringing it up?
I think the issue is that we all give them a monthly transaction in the form of a subscription. Activision-Blizzard already makes money every single month from every single WoW player.
If your argument was that Activision-Blizzard needs these microtransactions for content in a subscription free environment it would be slightly more believable. Still a false assumption, because in that scenario we still pay them millions, perhaps billions, in game sales.
Activision-Blizzard don’t need the money from any of their microtransactions for any of their games, and they would still make hundreds of millions in profit every year without them. They just want that money, and their investors demand that money.
They’re a business. Businesses make money. I don’t know why this is such a problem for people.
I don’t like the idea of the cash shop in general, but it isn’t going away. Ever.
In the meantime, those who dislike it aren’t required to buy it and they likely have bigger issues going on to make threads and posts about it. They’re on the same level as the anti-flying whiners who aren’t required to unlock or use flying yet they do. What a world we live in.
but it is the best expansion so far, I can’t imagine it won’t be the best expansion by 8.2
You would think blizzard forces people to buy mounts.
Really hard concept… The reason we keep getting store mounts. It is because people buy them.
You know what, I don’t care if Activision/Blizzard doesn’t need the money. I like the store mounts and I buy them. It’s my money and I put it towards my hobby, which is gaming.
Other people buy cigarettes, which I think is a waste of money and the companies that make them don’t need money either.
This thread already exists.
It’s because they don’t have a limit, a target where they say “oh yea we had a really exceptional fiscal year, good job everyone.” They want all the money, and anything other 100% control of the market share isn’t acceptable. Even if they somehow achieved that, they would still go looking for more.
The problem with this no limit drive is that they don’t deliver value for all the profit we’re providing them. There is in fact a steady decline in quality in their games. They don’t care if we enjoy their games any more, they just care that we’re fully engaged in them and spending money.
The thing is, people seem to forget, is you don’t have to buy them with real money – farm gold, buy token, buy mount – simple.
Yeah… again, that’s what businesses do. They don’t get X amount of money in their fiscal year and say, “alright that’s it guys! Stop trying to earn more money, we hit our quota.” Besides that I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t hit that quota for this year anyway, given how poorly BfA has apparently been doing. They need all the help they can get.
If you think that, don’t give them your money.
I think you’re missing the point I’m trying to make. I still enjoy WoW, but I also think it’s very clear that the quality is/has declined. I don’t want to stop playing, I want Blizzard to go back to producing quality games. Instead they’re trying to get me and everyone else to give them more money without producing anything for it. They’re making cash grabs without providing a better product or service in return.
