1 person messing up a mechanic on 3 of the gnomer bosses will wipe the raid. So I only want people with experience completing the raid to join my pug so I know we’ll finish it. I don’t care about optimizing the comp or orange parses because there is no hard dps checks, I just want people who I know will obey the extremely simple mechanics. I don’t consider this an unreasonable requirement.
You aren’t entitled to join anyone’s group, you can make your own if you don’t meet other people’s requirements. The raid is not that hard and 1 youtube video will teach you the mechanics so you can effectively raid lead.
Gatekeeping low difficulty content for you to just save 5 minutes in the long run.
Warcraft logs ruined pug raiding for classic. Even the GDKP’s were running with 10 fresh level 25’s for BFD, no gear checks, no WB’s, no consumables, no log checks and they were making it through with little to no wipes.
Have one bad first raid with a low parse and lots of wipes? Oops now thats the first thing people see and you wont be getting an invite anywhere. I hope the ban warcraftlogs for classic like they did with GDKPS. This gatekeeping doesn’t make for much fun for new players.
But I will say this, on my SOD rogue our raid team has no druid or pally. So I don’t get wf or might.
We also are an acceptable, but non-optimal comp. While we 1 shot everything and clear in about 40-45ish, our boss kills take additional time over a well optimized raid team.
As parses are highly correlated with kill time, a technically high performing team member in these circumstances could parse under a less performant member of an optimized team.
I am not saving 5 minutes by not. inviting people who wipe the raid repeatedly and don’t follow the mechanics. That is wasting my lockout by not completing the raid.
I think you underestimate how many idiots in this game absolutely refuse to do even the simplest mechanics. I’ve been in a gnomer where a guy wiped us multiple times refusing to move for chain lightning.
If you don’t like my requirements, why don’t you make your own group then? What’s so horrible about that? What’s so horrible about joining a guild?
Maybe invite some new faces and help teach them the mechanics? Maybe do one of a million things instead of just barring them from one of the easiest raids in wow?
Mistakes happen, we shouldnt be holding it over peoples heads for all eternity because of it. When i host raids i dont warcraft log or gear check and we always make it through fine? Maybe you just need someone else to lead your raids if you are running into so many problems
Oh how I miss the days where raiding was a fun, accomplishing thing. I can clearly recall the days of slowly progressing through new raids with my guild and it was where so many great memories came from for this game. Yeah, things didn’t always go as planned. Yeah, we died a lot. Yeah, sometimes you had to take time to explain boss mechanics. Yeah, it was annoying when you died on a boss 50 times and got a nice repair bill with nothing to show for it. But man, the memories of learning and doing something with people you didn’t truly know, but got to “know them” in a different way was unbeatable.
Nowadays everyone just treats games as a 2nd fulltime job. Raiding is treated as being fun, but a chore. This is what’s wrong with gamea these days. The community.
But then again, i am the type of person that will just start my own group with low expectations. It’s the memories that matter to me. Not rushing the content.
That’s just me though. If you want to be an elitist, go for it
I wouldn’t gkick someone over a single mistake, but some people refuse to do the mechanics and fail repeatedly. I’m not wasting my time and lockout on a pug. I’m ensuring I finish it and not letting 1 guy waste the lockout by refusing to learn.
I ask again, if you hate my requirements, you not make your own group?
You are still ignoring the fact that some people won’t and refuse to learn. In TBC i was grouped with a lock who kept wiping us on the first boss because of curse of doom on the threat drop.
You know what he said when I told him to stop using curse of doom? “Muh damage, I am using it and screw off”.
I’ve told some people to do a mechanic 5 times and they make no changes and do exactly what they were doing before. Or just tell me off for telling them what to do.
I don’t want to deal with people like this, so i’m going to only invite people who I know won’t be like that.
You are still also not answering the question. Why do you refuse to make your own group? It’s like you have no counter to this and just keep going back to circular reasoning
Good for you, then there is no issue with what other’s do with their groups.
I was pretty clear that I don’t care about parses when there is no hard dps checks. If it’s all grey that would prob be an exception but I don’t care about them being high, just that they cleared the raid before.
And yes if it’s someone’s alt they can just tell me that and give me the name of their raid and i’ll verify that know how to clear the raid.
It’s your raid group, and it’s completely up to you to set the rules even if they are unfair, elitist or unreasonable. So long as you are not breaking the TOS, like doing a GDKP run, more power to you.
For example, if you have a rule against gnomes with pink hair, that would make you a horrible person, but it would be your group and your prerogative.
new/bad players can join a guild or watch the videos, raid lead and invite the first 9 people that whisper them and learn the raid together.
my time is more valuable, sorry not sorry
i tried this once with with 3 friends. we invited pretty much the first 6 people who fit the open roles and said they knew the fights. we wiped on the first boss 3 times. some how managed to get 4/6 with multiple wipes. MT didn’t have kick bound. OT couldn’t actually OT, caster couldn’t use brain on electrocutioner, etc. won’t be doing that again. now i just join pugs that say they are checking logs
its not saving just 5 min bud, its sometimes hours. also u call it gatekeeping content for other players? we’ll by that logic the bad players are gatekeeping content for there good players b/c they are so bad. enough of this “everyone needs to dumb themselves down” for these ppl, thats not how the world works.
