So for some reason I see a bunch of alliance players wanting the factions to be merged
What a terrible idea
Not only does that not make sense lore wise, there is no reason to gameplay wise either
The faction balance is 45:55 favored horde
That is the single most well balanced 2 factions in mmo history
No mmo has ever come close to this level of balance (swtor was like 85:15 favored sith)
As someone who has tried alliance there is absolutely no difference to the experience if you play at a normal level (the mythic raiding is favored horde by a lot)
The only thing this has any impact on is mythic raiders but i didn’t see alliance complaining when it was 90% ally mythic raiders classic - wod
Not only that us horde players would never group with alliance players
You act as if we want to join the nelfs or worgen and as an undead player I can tel you for sure I do not
Lore wise races would not forget about major wars so quickly
Why would an undead ever want a nelf in my party

Hasn’t the old Horde basically been defeated twice at this point, and is now Alliance lite? Lore wise it seems to make sense to me.

Name one reason in the lore why an undead like me would ever be seen around a racist nelf

Source?
Even if this is true, just because it’s better doesn’t mean it’s good.

There has never been a more balanced 2 factions in mmo history
Aren’t they just mad at Sylvanas?
Also the ratio doesn’t really matter. If those whatever % of alliance players are all casuals (like me) it doesn’t do any favors to raiders.
Undead players love sylv and nelf players want her dead how could we be on a team
The ratio cited by the OP is pointless if it covers all players. People who like certain activities in game may tend to gravitate toward certain faction. The problem comes for people who do end game stuff and have trouble finding groups (this has been reported mostly for Alliance). It has been joking said that Alliance is mostly people who RP and collect things. So, there are plenty of “Alliance Players” but few who do competitive endgame. I like Alliance, but I do no end game at all. If I was serious about endgame stuff like raiding, I would almost certainly switch to Horde.

The “lore” has time and time and time and time again involved working together against Big Bad XYZ over and over again.
At this point the faction war is stupid and against the lore and only exists because of people with some obsession towards preserving it. It’s like a bunch of siblings squabbling over a toy while the house is simultaneously on fire, flooding, with a tornado coming straight at it, while a tidal surge is coming from the other side. And an earthquake.
But still they’re…fighting over who gets to play Zelda next.
And there most certainly is a gameplay reason. It’s stupid to have any divide at this point, and time and again people transfer Horde looking for people to recruit to guilds, raid teams, or play higher end PvE/PvP.
Factions are played the heck out. Let it goooo

Lore says adventurers aren’t bound by faction ties, and PvE mode should reflect that.
I’ve been advocating for xfaction play since MoP when the faction balance was probably closer to what you have in your OP than it is now. There’s just no good reason why a bunch of rugged travelers can’t group up to kill a world boss.
We can already fight it… together. Just tag all PCs as friendly outside of WM and BGs and it’s GG.

That is so cringe, go away.

I just did my WB with a full team of Horde and Alliance.
So xfaction play is already in the game, but limited.
There’s been a faction imbalance since like Wrath, Orc and Troll racials are just too good for certain classes to ignore. The top guilds went Horde and all their fans followed suit. There’s a reason why Famed Slayer (alliance) sometimes doesn’t even fill out for a whole tier.
That said, I think merging factions is an absolutely terrible idea. This is world of WARcraft, not hello kitty island adventures. Just make an alliance racial comparable to Horde. Maybe give an Alliance Race the same Blood Fury type buff Orcs have or the attack speed buff Trolls have. Maybe you could add the Blood Fury to Lightforged Draenei considering they made Yrel Space Hitler, and call it “Zealotry.” or “Fanaticism” or something.
As an undead player I can tell you no undead would ever group with a nelf, human, or worgen for any reason whatsoever
their writing is the reason this is even a topic imo. many of the players that want the merge are just huge lore nuts…and they’re right…
when we are literally bff’s with the opposing faction for most of the game, and work together constantly to overcome all adversity…I don’t think there’s any need for it anymore.
if they want it to be horde vs alliance, they need to write the story in said way. whoever is writing is afraid to take risks in the same way that the original blizzard minds did. way too afraid to kill off a character, and overly political in some cases.

That’s fine, as you wouldn’t be forced into the PvE mode if you didn’t want to be. At least with the solution I suggest.
Undead are such bff with alliance we burned down your biggest city with everyone inside
hey i’m not saying i agree lol…
personally i don’t want to be a part of alliance OR horde…i wish i had more control over my character’s fantasy/story. but here we are lol
all the hubs i’m in (oribos, dream grove, covenant sanctums, etc.) are me alongside allies on the opposing faction (since we’re working together again). It’s almost like Teldrassil didn’t even happen.
BTW, I bet they don’t update darkshore or follow up on the night elf storyline for another 2 expansions.
So if we do that to you nelfs why would you ever want to be on our team
