They’re doing this to address the awful behavioral conduct of their workforce. Seems like a really bad way to ensure your workers aren’t running around the office sexually harrassing each other, but just add this to long list of problems that Blizzard is doing a poor job at fixing.
Imagine being sued by the State of CA because your management and employees don’t know how to behave themselves in the work place, and in turn censoring your game as a PR stunt lmao.
This company is so vastly, wildly, plainly incompetent at literally every step of the way. Their game is in the dumpster and almost everyone is leaving, there are mountains of problems with the actual quality of the game, but now they’re focusing all their dev work on meaningless changes to pretend they care about their companies image.
If they genuinely cared about correcting the behavior of their team, everyone would be fired. They’re all running around the office trying to grab people’s j*nk and sh**, but this is how blizzard corrects it.
Meanwhile, all of the real complaints about the absolute sh** state of this game are still completely not remedied.
Just add this to the long list of reasons why Blizzard sucks and their game is rapidly dying. None of the management or devs know what they’re doing, they’re literally all bad at their jobs and can’t produce anything of quality. Just the plain truth of it, no denying it after the year that they’ve had absolutely ruining their product.

Where? Their toxic and foul workplace culture has nothing to do with the actual game. It’s hilarious that this is how they are attempting to clean their image, instead of actually removing every single employee associated with the behavior.
It would fix more problems than 1 if Blizzard fired the entire WoW team and re-built it from the floor up. If they could get any real talent to work for their absolute dumpster fire of an organization.

If one is so fragile a small silent orange line of text in a video game bothers them, or a 16+ years old 4 pixel painting bothers them, I’d argue they need a bit more than empathy
I’d suggest therapy perhaps, to discover why one has such emotional fragility
That’s not a typical human response to something so minor and insignificant but have a fit I suppose

What about all the people whining that those pixels are oppressing them?
The team have overtime perhaps as this change would be unscheduled and perhaps even keeping staff in a job.

That too, although I don’t think most people’s anger is directed at the things being changed so much as WHY. Changing the game to suit a couple of devs feelings while ignoring the millions of players who foot the bill over there is kind of a slap in the face, and a bit infuriating
My issue is that development time is being devoted to molding the game to suit a devs feelings while actual bugs are being ignored
There are bugs that have been active since SL launch, multiple threads asking for fixes, and nothing…

It’s a dog and pony show. ActiBlizz humped the proverbial canine here. They allowed things to get way out of hand and they won’t acknowledge that, nor will they adequately compensate the victims of their negligence. Until they do that latter two things, none of these changes changes mean a damn thing.
Pixels are easily replaced, as they are demonstrating, the ability to trust that the victims of ActiBlizz’s negligence lost due to the behavior of ActiBlizz’s depraved former devs, can not be so easily replaced.
Finally, anyone that thinks this means a damn thing at all, why don’t you ask the family of the woman who was driven to suicide by the harassment she received from ActiBlizz’s former if they think that changing some pixels, jokes and emotes is real change?

only ‘benefit’ is some dev going ‘this will show we’re progressive!’ even though it’s regressive-thinking to remove this kind of language from the game. god forbid someone finds someone else attractive in this T for teen fantasy world…

took a look at all the /silly and /flirt emotes getting removed. Some are legit funny and actually SHOULD stay in the game.
like, seriously Blizzard, you’re hurting the game more than you’re helping it.
some of my favorites:
female dwarf - “no, they’re not real, but thanks for noticing.”
female undead - “yes, they’re real! they aren’t mine, but they’re real!”
male goblin - “yeah, she told me to tie her up and do whatever I wanted to her… so I took her stereo.”
The issue I believe for most folks is that the game is rated T. It says why it is rated T on the box. People knew it was rated T, why it was rated T prior to purchasing the game.
Now we have the company doing damage control and taking away things that were in the game, because it was rated T.
" * When in doubt… touch anything that glows." This voice line was removed from my character. Why? I think it’s a pretty cleaver line along with other lines that were removed.
Sure they’re sexual in nature, but go pick up literally any romance novel that has been published within the last five years and there are sex scenes. It seems to me that Blizzard is trying to scrub out sex from their game. Why?
So sex is bad, but sure, go learn about how the Orcs enslaved and murdered 90% of the Draenei race?

Yeah it’s not the greatest idea but I’ve already had a post torn down for voicing my opinion on how bad things are. I’m not happy about my favorite lines being taken from the tauren, none of the ones they’re removing are that bad…the only joke I’m fine seeing leave is that Mac’aree joke lightforged gals tell because Mac’aree doesn’t exist no more but the others…idk. Hoping…they’re not going to remove our jokes and flirt and just throwing them out there for feedback to see how bad an idea it would be. You’re right though OP…I see no benefit removing jokes and flirts too as it’s going to upset most the playerbase.

If only. They lost their top talent either through deservedly firing them or the talent leaving on their own accord. I will miss you Mrs. Glasses Transmog Creator. You made the only good thing in 9.1 and probably the last good thing to ever come out of WoW. The ones you’ve left behind will only tarnish what you’ve touched because they possess only a thousandth of your talent and passion for the game.
