Hey everyone.
As some have pointed out. World of Warcraft The Burning Crusade Classic is undergoing an extended maintenance today:
https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/breaking/22835078
Due to that you will be unable to connect and you may see prompts for client updates that have not yet been pushed locally. It typically is a matter of waiting for the update to be pushed and then for the service maintenance to be completed.
When logging into Battle.net, I am given a white box that says “An updated version of World of Warcraft is available. Please launch the Battle.net App to download the update.”
I have “launched” everything I know of.
I have “updated” everything I know of.
What now?

No clue what a “Launcher App” is.
Is that the same as the “Battle.net Desktop App”?
Downloaded the “Battle.net Desktop App”.
Once running, this took me to the same page where I click the blue “Play” button.
The same white box popped up.

Have you restarted your computer since the updating issue started?
Sometimes parts of the game files can remain running even when closed and it can cause updating issues.

I did restart the computer.
I also Uninstalled then re-installed Battle.net.
Same white box appears.
I’m getting the same thing.
Everyone is getting similar errors between Bnet and trying to launch TBC Classic. Please Note: Maintenance isn’t scheduled to end until 3PM PDT. So this may be likely why there are issues.
“An updated version of World of Warcraft is available. Please launch the Battle.net app to download the update.”
I followed these steps and they didn’t help:
The steps below will guide you through “clean re-installing” the Battle.net application, as this sort of behavior with the Battle.net Desktop App is typically caused by corrupted Battle.net files:
- [Uninstall the Blizzard Battle.net App ]
- Next (before re-installing) delete any Battle.net, Blizzard, and/or Blizzard Entertainment folders in the Windows temporary file locations (if you don’t see all three, just delete the ones you have):
- Press Windows Key + R and type: %LOCALAPPDATA%. Delete any Battle.net, Blizzard, and/or Blizzard Entertainment folders.
- Repeat the process for %APPDATA%, %TEMP%, and %PROGRAMDATA%. Delete any Battle.net, Blizzard, and/or Blizzard Entertainment folders.
- Finally, [re-install the Battle.net Desktop App ]
I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling TBC classic.

leave it to Blizzard to brick something.
Ok. That’s actually comforting. I felt like it might have something to do with the patch. But this has never occurred in previous patches.
Same issue,
Can’t log into TBC Classic after patch.
But am able to open Retail and reg Classic through Battle net launcher without issue…
I too am experiencing the same error after my launcher updated to the latest patch.
Isn’t the service down until 3 pm today as it’s maintenance day? That’s what the launcher says.
My issue has been resolved with this last update push. Thank you.
How did you fix it? or you just being sarcastic.
After 10 minutes it updated again and it worked.
after 10 minutes of what? ive done everything and it wont update.
