There Hasn't Been CM/MT-like content in years

With all the hullabaloo about CM sets not making a return (original or recolors), I’d just like to point out that it’s been several expansions since anything similar to the Challenge Mode or Mage Tower rewards were added to the game.

I see a lot of people wanting to gatekeep pixels from other people, for whatever reason, but one of the big issues I think is that the developers simply haven’t been adding cool, exclusive transmogs available to those who complete some sort of PvE content in a long time.

The challenge mode sets came out in Mist of Pandaria, which came out in 2012 (12! years ago). The mage tower weapon appearances came out in Legion, which launched in 2016 (8! years ago).

We’ve now gone through three expansions (Battle for Azeroth, Shadowlands, and Dragonflight) without any sort of limited-time, cool, exclusive transmogs to collect. Newer players don’t have any sort of neat way to show “I wuz there” like the CM sets/MT appearances show.

I think that’s part of the problem presented by these original ideas. If there were more regular, exclusive PvE collectibles to collect in a given expansion there’d be more ways for players to participate in showing off their rare collectibles. But there just haven’t been any rare collectibles akin to CM/MT in a long, long, long, long…time.

Mists of Pandaria: Challenge Modes
Warlords of Draenor: Challenge Modes
Legion: Mythic Keystones and Mage Tower
Battle for Azeroth: Mythic Keystones and Horrific Visions
Shadowlands: Mythic Keystones, Torghast, and Mage Tower
Dragonflight: Mythic Keystones

Bro didn’t even list horrific visions, they were truly forgotten

I truly did forget about them.

Absolutely none of which had rewards up to par with CM sets or MT weapons for your character, and the armor/weapon cosmetics from them are STILL available.

Wait are they?

I thought the masks and title went when bfa ended

That’s fine that you feel that way.

Comparing m+ to CMs in terms of reward structure feels incredibly disingenuous.

Big agree.

Challenge Modes rewarded limited time sets, mounts, and titles in Mists of Pandaria, Mythic Keystones reward limited time mounts, titles, and portals in Dragonflight. What’s the issue again?

Are you seriously saying some masks nobody cares about are on the same level of CM sets and MT weapon appearances?

Masks that you don’t care about*

Fixed that for you.

I mean, even your arbitrary lists aren’t the same. What’s your point again, since this clearly doesn’t demonstrate what you think it does.

I’ll reply with your own quote:

It doesn’t for you since you lack the capacity for critical thought. Cheers.

Ok, check back in 10 years or so and see how many people are clamoring to get the masks from horrific visions. We’ll all be waiting (hint: no one will be asking for these in 10 years).

I mean I got them because I liked them

Is specifically the issue.

Keystones aren’t comparable to CM. Arena would be a better analogue.

Or your argument isn’t as good as you think it is and I pointed it out. Toodles.

i don’t think “comparable” and “exactly equivalent” are synonymous to most people

They do elite sets from pvp every season.
