I honestly don’t think people know what the word “new” means when it comes to mounts. I constantly see people say look at all these “new” mounts coming in this patch. Also I just saw a post from a content creator saying there are 53 “new” mounts coming in Legion Remix and then proceeds to show a recolor of an old mount.
I want to see this list of 53 mounts and lets pick apart how many of them are reskins and recolors of old mounts in the game, using the same old model. Stop calling them “new” there is nothing new about mounts that are already in the game but just a different color.

I said it a while ago that mounts don’t feel special. Lots of recolors over rigs. I saw the season mount and it’s pretty cool and I don’t think we have anything like it.
But theres so many recolors and half don’t even fly! Like the darkmoon horse… why don’t it fly?

No I actually don’t care if it’s a re-skin or a re-color or a re-frame. I’m not that picky or entitled. It’s literally going to be a plus one to my Mount collection so that I can ignore it for the next 20 years while I continue to use the five mounts I actually enjoy. So I’m just gonna keep my mouth shut when it comes to the new stuff coming out because it’s something not in my collection so I guess that makes it New to my collection 
and I’m definitely going to appreciate it because they didn’t have to do anything

I have NEVER considered ANYTHING in the game with the same model but a different color a different entity, let alone something new. Same item, different color doesn’t make it new, it is just a different color.
Like Opinionated stated, it’s only new to your collection, if you don’t have it on your checklist.

That’s the gimmick of blizzard. Check out this new “Remix” it’s Everything that’s already in the game plus maybe some recolors. Check out these new mounts that are the exact same as the old ones just worse recolors. Check out trading post again just crappy recolors of cooler stuff.

I don’t mind recolors that much, but yeah at some point they went crazy and now we get 2-6 recolors of every mount.
I’m just happy they still make unique Vicious PvP mounts.
The eel from last season was perfect.
The void creeper from this season looks cool and is “unique enough”.
It might use a krolusk skeleton/animations, but it’s clearly a new model.
No I’ll just have two of the same cars just different color. New implies that it is unique especially in game terms. Slapping a new paint job on it and being like “it’s fresh and new” is lazy and shameful.
New does not imply unique.
That is your own addition to the meaning.

Ok. Say you are the developer. You are told to come up with a new mount.
They start using the OLD model, already USED previously. That alone proves it is not NEW. OLD model, but different color.

Not gonna lie I was fairly disappointed when that promotional 6-month sub cobra mount just turned out to be “another cloud serpent with a fresh paintjob” 
I was expecting maybe some sort of new “slither” animation for the ground-mount mode at least, but nope… it was just another (repainted) MoP-era cloud serpent “skeleton” underneath it, so lazy imo
I mean the top 100-200 people in NA/EU who mount collect. The top guy in the world for mounts puts out videos regularly helping people to obtain mounts or other collectable.
Mate there’s like 8, maybe 10 mounts total.
Everything else is just a reskin of the exact same mount skeleton, with the same mount special, with the same mount animations and flying style and everything.
Until they start making a new mount skeleton to apply skins to, there maybe never will truly be a new mount again.
