So, we have been repeatedly told that there are infinite realms within the shadowlands. So many many places like Bastion, Ardenweld, Revendreth ect. What hits for me as another bad, vague plot hole, is the question of different arbiters. So if the Janitor had to get some sigils and what not to get to Zereth Mortis, and was having trouble with this tiny fragment of Shadowlands, why didnt he look to other realms within them?
If the part of it we are experiencing (5 Zones and and Airport) is the example, then there are countless Arbiters out there. Sorting countless souls through their own airports, into their own little slices of afterlife. Does that mean each little piece of the infinite shadowlands, has the ability to create a portal to the same Zereth Mortis we are going to, or do they have different Zereth Mortis for their own little sections.
And now coupled with all this nonsense about how the Janitor influenced everyone and everything for the entirety of WoW, in order to bring us to this point… What about the other infinite realms of shadowlands? If he is remaking everything, shouldnt they be involved in stopping him? Or, do they just go on with their own daily quests, completely unaware that REALITY ITSELF IS AT RISK IF THE JANITOR REALIZES HIS 8th DIMENSION GALACTIC CHESS PLAN!!
- Crediting Celebrate for referring to the Jailor as the Janitor. Since Celebrate did, I only refer to him as the Janitor.

It’s not a plot hole just because you weren’t paying attention.
There may be “infinite realms” but it doesn’t necessarily mean that they all have the same significance as the ones founded and overseen by the pantheon. Nor does it necessarily mean that there’s more than one Arbiter.

What in the headcanon are you babbling about lol
There’s one Arbiter, who directs all incoming souls to the infinite realms. Most of which are basically just retirement homes who probably aren’t even aware there’s a problem.

Hooray! Another chapter of “let’s find some asinine things to complain about”

WoW players and willfully misinterpreting the lore, then getting mad about their wrong assumptions, name a more iconic duo.

There’s just one Arbiter for the entire SL. This is the only airport. There’s no changing flights in Atlanta or anything, every soul goes through Oribos.
Likewise these are the only Eternals. 99.9% of all other afterlives are just peaceful paradises tailored to the characters and interests of the types of souls sent to them. And Zereth Mortis created every single one of them.
The four covenants we are dealing with are essentially the governing board. They have actual responsibilities with maintaining and defending the SL. These are the main threats to his plan and the only sigils that he needed. The other afterlives aren’t a concern and it’s impractical to bring them in anyways. Blizz only has time for a handful of zones, they can’t whip up a hundred different places.

You can even see the gateways to hundreds of other afterlives off in the distance when you’re in the Arbiter’s room.

Where exactly do we learn this? Is it in one of those books that they try to get you to purchase so you can understand the totality of the lore they’re butchering?

Because only the four main realms have sigils. They’re the ones that keep the machine running. The other afterlives are just simple afterlives without duty and purpose like that.
Uh… no.

It was in one of the quests somewhere in one of the zones, iirc. I haven’t read any of the books since BfA, because the story has been so bad.

There’s at least one afterlife for skilled engineers, called Craftenium. Also, Grimoire confirms that there are multiple temporary punishment realms, besides Revendreth.

Idk. Searching infinity could take a while.
He knew where 4 were so went with it.
Im more mad that we had infinite realms and 9.1 was more maw.
Also idk if these four are the most important compared to like the beach resort afterlife. Each realm seems to have a purpose so idk what infinite purposes there could be.
Seems like these 4 pretty well cover it.
Also whywith anima flow restored, has no other realm come to help stop the jailor.
Feel like all the realms rising up would crush him in the maw.
But what do i know. Pelagos was probably supposed to go get them but is an idiot so probably failed the task.

Story is a mess so I wouldn’t try to make sense of it. Current writers can’t even keep simple lore details.
Infinite realms but there are no covenants in Oribos, only the 4 we know.
We go to thorgast to save lost souls and jailed covenant members yet again these are all the covenants We know, nothing else from the possibility of infinite realms.
I guess jailer only cares about the 4 covenants We know. He must have planned this as well since before WC1.

Because there’s only four “utility” afterlives that provide necessary services so the other (number approaching infinity) domains can keep going. We only need to go to the four that are ruled by Eternals, because they’re the only ones that can actually do anything about the problem.
If you diverted some of that brainpower you’re using on complaining about things you don’t bother trying to understand toward actually paying attention, maybe we wouldn’t have this problem.

You know damn well that’s asking for a lot around these parts. =P

There was no real reason to have the “infinite” afterlives line except as fluff.

There is something of a headache when it’s said that all souls go to the SL to be judged and sorted into four covenants when Odyn, Helya, and Bwonsamdi have their own pieces of after life were souls bypass that system. So if those three can buck the system then bound to be others too. Like one for murlocs.
