I have been observing a few thematically similar details about this expansion as compared to the wildly successful expansion in FF14 with Emet Selch, the battle between light and shadow worlds, the expansion of “Shadowbringers”. Overwhelming presence of light resulting in a light-soaked world? It’s been done before. The overly shadow saturated realm of Voidstorm, with beings who seek to consume all other’s power? Seems a whole lot like the story line including Zero and Golbez. WoW (<~~), so original.
All in all, I’m not actually complaining, just expressing my perspective of the low-hanging fruit grab of effective thematic usage. Shadowbringers writing was one of the absolute best I have ever experienced in 30-35 years of game playing as a non-smooth-brain human.
