Neither Hunter nor Lock can complete this task with a pet out. No matter how many you fight, the counter stays at 0/3. It is possible without your pet, but if you are solo on this task, good luck.

You may be able to fly out of the area and back to reset what task you have, but I haven’t tried.

My first two classes to 80 were hunter and lock and I dreaded this objective every time I got it. It took forever to complete and felt so poorly designed. I never connected that it could be a pet issue. I can get credit for the objective eventually, but maybe it’s only when I get the final blow and my pet doesn’t.
