You’ve been invited and granted moderator status so you can invite others to the in-game calendar.

I’ll be DMing from other characters this weekend!

For this weekend, please enjoy, Grumpy Kalimari

Avannaril

and Angry Fox Dad Who’s Been Woken Up Too Damn Early One Too Many Times.

Fennecfremen

(Fun fact, unlocking vulpera doesn’t make you a furry, but getting the heritage armor does.)

But worry not! For The Most Paladin (Deus Lux, Deus Lux) will be there next week fighting in Hearthglen for the Argent Crusade! A perfect opportunity to make him pull his gorgeous hair out.

I’m in class for another 2 hours, hope you guys will still be around by then!

Good morning, everyone.

Wow, over 30 characters showed up to the (Alliance) premiere event in Stormwind tonight! I don’t think our DM was expecting such a big crowd, so BIG shout out to them for adapting and running the show!

Today, at 5pm WrA server time, the Horde will get to experience their version of this event in Orgrimmar. Upon log in and close to 5, look for a Pre-made group called Year of the Scourge: Orgrimmar.

Don’t forget, everyone: there is an event in Orgrimmar tonight! The YOTS team aim to provide events to ALL players of ALL factions in a variety of locations! If you weren’t able to make it last night, we’d love to have you around tonight!

Thanks to everyone who showed up last night to support the group!

Unfortunately, while the Alliance managed to defeat the zombies, they were unable to stop the Scourge’s hidden intention. Now, the question is…

Really fun time tonight! Got to meet a lot of really talented RPers for a neat event. Thanks for putting it on!

In Stormwind, Alliance players saw a picture of a guard with the file name “cultist_leader.png” and started grilling him like a damn steak.

In Orgrimmar, Horde players saw a picture of a guard with the file name “cultist_leader_org.png” and responded with, “Screw off! These are our bodies to harvest!”

God bless the Forsaken.

We had just shy of thirty people at Orgrimmar, and a handful more at Stormwind. The turnout and support was phenomenal! I’m grateful for the opportunity to be your DM this weekend, and I’m looking forward to helping where I can going forward! I had a blast this weekend, and I hope you guys did too

Still, the heroes of Orgrimmar also didn’t root out the true threat. The ghouls were defeated, but darker forces are still in play, waiting for a more opportune time to strike.

And - since I didn’t quite get the chance to show them off - here are unused pictures of some of those “darker forces”!

Sunday, January 10th World Update

The premier events of the Year of the Scourge campaign have taken place, and the world has changed. See descriptions below and take any part of this for your character’s or guild’s role-play for the next 7 days!

Tl;dr

  • Plague-afflicted corpses found in the public waterways
  • Some bodies not burned fast enough have risen as undead scourge
  • Incresed push to burn bodies of the dead as quickly as possible
  • Stomach flu going around
  • All major cities affected

Full Report

Town cryers and posters inform citizens of major citizens of the following details:

Plague-infested corpses have been found in the water ways of major cities around Azeroth, during the course of the same few days. Bloated corpses lay strewn on the muddy banks of Stormwind’s canals and Orgrimmar’s streams (n Stormwind, heroes found several more in Stormwind lake. In truth, the black-rot bodies litter both water systems in their entireties, most yet to be found).

Killed by Scourge and infected with the Plague, these decaying cadavers have been infecting the cities for weeks. Severe stomach cramps, fatigue, and fevers plague anyone who has drank frequently from those cities. If they didn’t seek treatment soon, then they too would be turned to Scourge. Corpse piles still littered the streets, but the order was in effect: burn the bodies.

Citizens mount protests as Sunreaver incinerators, Dark Iron Forgewrights, Bilgewater bomb squads, Scarlet pyromancers, and anyone else that could wield a flame deploy. Priests and paladins, some taken from whatever ranks the Argents could afford, march at their sides. Consecrated in fire, holy or otherwise, the corpses spill forth from their piles, burning and ravenous. The escort handily dispatches them, but not without sustaining great injuries. Tide Sages and Water Shaman turn their attention to the waters, pouring their magics into the streams in a desperate attempt to cleanse then. However, it was a losing battle, and no one knew how many were already infected.

Economies within the cities swing wildly as demand for imported water and water purifiers skyrocket, much to opportunists’ delight.

Of far greater concern, the conspirators of this attack remain unknown. Rumours of cultists, lunatics, government cleansing, traitors, divine will, and more all swirl among the lips of the citizens. Guards activity wrenches tight, nightly raids to weed out any would-be suspects. Some cheer in support, others in defiance. Whatever the villains wanted, it appears as though they’re winning.

Possible ways to incorporate this into your role-play for the coming week

  1. A debate between those who agree with burning the corpses en masse and those who disagree.
  2. Guards tightening down their control of the cities.
  3. Carrying, or only drinking, purified or imported water. Alternatively, selling purified or imported water.
  4. Participating in corpse pile burns, against protesters’ wishes.
  5. Pulling bodies out of the city waters.
  6. Purifying city waters.
  7. Examining city waters or the bodies. Your character would find they’re infected with the same necrotic magic, eerily similar to the plague

JANUARY FIFTEENTH: HEARTHGLEN
Find us at 5:30pm Server Time (PST) within Hearthglen itself!

Context - In Character:

Scourge forces have not stopped at the cities - no, Lordaeron has always been rife with corpses for the taking. Hearthglen has become a beacon in the North - literally. In addition to presenting itself as a safe haven for weary travelers from Quel’Thalas, as well as Forsaken and Human settlements nearby, Hearthglen stands as the lone beacon against an invasive fog. Priests and magi combine their efforts to create a sort of magical dome over Hearthglen itself, keeping those inside safe from an otherwise maddening fog hanging over the entirety of the Plaguelands.

The denizens of Hearthglen were able to keep themselves and their guests safe for the initial first few weeks of the invasion thanks to their own diligence. Visitors are subjected to both extensive physical searches as well as breath tests upon entry to affirm that they are not carriers of the plague. Their strategic locale, as well as their hardy defenses, proved difficult to break. However, cultists have found a new approach: funneling the Scourge in through portals into Hearthglen itself, sending tides of undead through to the base without having to break down its outer gate.

Event Information - OOC:

  • waves of undead coming in through Hearthglen through various spawn points; defense of Hearthglen is paramount (“Home” Team)
  • using a magical artefact to find the locations of these portals and the source of the streams of undead (“Away” Team)
  • Hearthglen is very well-defended; ICly, by entering, your character has consented to and undergone extensive searches to affirm they are NOT carrying the plague (these will be skipped over and assumed to have ALREADY happened during the event’s intro)
  • Because of the nature of this event and how it is open to both factions, we will be capping this event at the first 50 to show up or at 32 in one faction’s raid group. This is so we can make the best use of our resources as is possible and keep this event fun and engaging for all involved. Thank you for understanding!

Do I Need To Bring Anything?

As this is a cross-faction event, the use of the addon CrossRP is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

Otherwise, you do not need to come prepared with anything: links to relevant documents and information will be found in the DM’s (Noria’s) TRP as well as in the Year of the Scourge Discord server.
