I believe it’s time for our…

Icecrowning achievement!

Sorry about the switcheroo here! Got some last minute IRL schedule shifting and had to bump this up to Friday instead of our normal Saturday! Still, like Ax said, we’ll be doing a small pre-event and then starting our full event at 6PM!

IMPORTANT REMINDER:
Please have completed the Icecrown quests UP TO CAPTURING CRUSADER’S PINNACLE prior to the event! The remaining Icecrown quests will be required before the end of the campaign (as soon as possible is preferred, to free up people for missions!), but you only need to have unlocked CRUSADER’S PINNACLE before Friday the 19th!

Icecrown - Reclaiming the Argent Vanguard (Chapter 4, Week 6)

Having captured the souls of the dead from the battle at the Argent Stand, the Scourge are poised to accelerate their plans. The heroes were barely capable of stopping the Scourge before, but now they had the same distance to travel in half the time.

The Scourge pressed the attack on the Argent Stand in Zul’drak. As the heroes were ready to leave, the arcane barriers protecting the stand collapsed. They flew off through Zul’drak, fighting through gargoyles and evading blasts from a new necropolis. They managed to escape Zul’drak, only to find Sunreaver Commander in Crystalsong burnt to the ground, the golden crest of Silvermoon replaced with the crowned skull of the new Scourge. A second necropolis appeared on the horizon, but they were fortunate to avoid its gaze.

When they landed on the southeastern banks of Icecrown, they could see the Vanguard at the top of a nearby hill. However, Argent banners had been torn down, and the Crowned Skull hung in their place.

Heroes fought their way up the hill, pushing through incoming waves of ghouls, while barrels of Blight rolled from the hill overhead, and a ranger shot at them from a nearby tower. However, they crested the hill, finding the Vanguard in ruins. The Scourge had culled every Crusader from the fort. The ground underneath stung at the living, tainted by dark rituals powered by draining and corrupting blood from impaled knights. Meanwhile, cultists gathered underneath the ramparts, sacrificially mutilating and eviscerating captive Argents to earn the blessing of Lady Damnedfate, who savored the display from above.

Some of the heroes stormed the ritual sites, others pushed through the ghouls for Damnedfate herself! The cultists manning each ritual were quickly dispatched. The heroes broke down the sites and blessed the ground to alleviate its tainting affects on their bodies. Two knights bearing Ebon Tabards met the heroes at the penultimate platform. The cultists scattered with their Argent prisoners, but it was too late. Already, a large pile of the corpses lay in the middle of the courtyard.

The heroes dispatched the knights and engaged Damnedfate. She managed to incapacitate three of them before welcoming the group to Icecrown and vanishing. They had secured the Vanguard, but it was in ruins. The ground was desecrated, the guards were slaughtered and the walls were crumbling. There was a lot of work ahead of them if they were to survive Icecrown long enough to reach the Citadel.

Campaign Update

Having retaken and secured the Argent Vanguard from the Scourge, the time had come to make an advance into Icecrown itself. The champions of the allied forces made their way through the glaciers and over the ramparts, until they were attacked by three corrupted Ebon Knights.

While the battle was challenging, with the entire group being attacked by blood magic, causing their own blood to feel as though it were boiling beneath their flesh, the knights were eventually taken out, and the path cleared. The party then made its way to Mord’rethar: the First Gate.

This is where our champions were met with failure. Facing off against a monstrous creature, and eventually against the lich Lady Damnedfate and her sanlayn accomplice, hordes of undead ghouls and a chamber filling with blighted gas, the casualties were high and the party decided to flee, retreating once more to the Vanguard.

The group now has to reevaluate their plan of attack, the element of surprise having been lost.

World Update

While our heroes try to save the world in Northrend, the rest of Azeroth is under siege. All over the world, throngs of undead Scourge have come out of the woods and the deserts and begun surrounding major cities like Orgrimmar and Stormwind, while also gathering outside the gates of Mulgore and Quel’Thalas.

Local defenders being too busy keeping the Scourge out of their cities and territories, our champions in Icecrown should not count on reinforcements any time soon.

I AM SO EXCITED! We’re at the second to last event of the ENTIRE campaign! I’m also a little drunk right now, so I’m using CAPITALS instead of italics, but man! I hope to see you all there!
