Chapter 2
World Update:

The Ghostlands

On Friday, Several Farstrider rangers descended upon Dualfate Manor, the delapitated home of one of Silvermoon’s fomer magisters. Aided by several others, including representatives from the Sunreavers, the Argent Crusaders and more, they investigated the property for clues as to the origins of Lady Damnedfate, now a confirmed lich.

The found spectres, which turned out to be fractured pieces of the souls of Damndfate’s former servants, locked in time and space, repeating events from the last days of their lives. Evidence suggest a disaster of some form destroyed not just their bodies, but their souls as well. The Light was of no help to these shades.

A sense of dread permeated the area, and the entire party experienced waves of nausea, chills and headaches.

The lich herself, Lady Damnedfate, eventually appeared, and conjured more spectres of her former servants, to attack the party.

While the hard fought battle was eventually won, and the lich was destroyed, it wasn’t without its cost. One fatality must be reported: Ranger Elorae of the Farstriders was fatally wounded, her body returned to the rangers for proper burial. May it be noted that she fell in the line of duty in the protection of Quel’Thalas.

Rosewood Village
A short story

Ethan’tolas Everdawn, ranger captain, lead his unit of Farstriders through the haunting woods of the Ghostlands, tasked with checking on villages and towns that have gone quiet. Word had reached them of a terrible battle with a lich, here in Quel’Thalas, resulting in the loss of one of their own rangers. The scourge threat was very real, and now much closer to home.

The unit were as stealthy as possible as they approached Rosewood Village. They hadn’t seen a soul on the roads in days, and had slain a few random ghouls roaming around. A sense of dread filled them as they couldn’t see any movement or hear any sounds whatsoever as they entered the village.

Carefully, they began their search, starting with the public buildings like inns, town halls, and sanctums, places most likely to serve as shelters. Finding no one at all, they moved onto homes.

While the several hours search came up empty, finding not a single citizen, alive or dead, the unit kept going, holding out a waning hope.

Finally, at the end of a long day, a scroll was found. A letter, unfinished, next to a spilled bottle of ink:

To anyone who may find this,

Please know that we are holding out as long as we can, abandoned by Silvermoon and left to fend for ourselves.

A caravan of women and children, and a few of us men, were evacuated to Silvermoon when the scourge first arrived. Upon approaching the capital, we found it surrounded by hundreds of undead, the Sheppard’s Gate sealed shut. We turned around and returned to Rosewood.

The ghouls have been clawing at the barricades, and we are running out of arrows. More have appeared every day, and the town is completely surrounded. They appear to have warlocks now, who attempt to disable the magical barriers erected by our amateur mages.

It is only a matter of time bef-

The letter ends, abruptly. There are signs of a struggle in the home. But no signs of life.

Rosewood Village, population just under 700, is declared lost.

Hey there everyone,

Our next event will happen this Saturday May 15th at 5pm WrA time, in Heartghlen. This will be a cross-faction gathering to discuss current strategy and drink an ale to a victory well won, and a life lost.

This is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to join in, as it will be a no-stress catch-up style event. Come one, come all!

This week, we go to Ratchet in the Northern Barrens! The Scourge have been attacking farms and supply lines, and the burden is weighing down on those who call Kalimdor home! It’s time to investigate claims of cultist activities, whilst we search for reports in Ashenvale!

EDIT: We will be starting at 5:30 PM WrA due to work conflicts!

In an earlier event, I had a death knight say the cultists were working out of the Crossroads, so that’s where this was originally going to be. But, while planning, this is what basically played through my head:
