The Wyrmrest Society Quill [RP Publication]

Greetings and felicitations gentle readers, from your dear friend, Lady Whistlingdown.

While I’m certain it has been awhile since many of you have had the opportunity to peruse about current events, it is my extreme pleasure to offer to you “The Wyrmrest Society Papers.”

We will be keeping up to date with happenings around Azeroth and beyond! Should you or your boon companions have any happenings or friendly gossip you would like to share, please reach out to me and I will be quite happy to pass it along in my pages.

For our premier issue, I would like to make mention of several happenings that have been noted recently. First, there was quite a fight down at the Stormwind docks only just last night. A rather large worgen clad in fine sailor’s thread was threatening a most disarming looking lady while others looked on. However, it seems that the woman was not without the ability to defend herself, because a glance at the ship’s deck revealed the sailor flattened by whom I could only imagine was the lady! And bully for her, we say!

A few nights ago, it was also noticed that a quite chipper bard had made his way to Darkshire. We do hope he returns in time for the next poetry reading. If you have not attended a poetry reading in Darkshire, why…you are missing out on some most wonderful pies and treats made by Harun! Please remember to put this squarely on your social calendar for next time.

The spookiest dance of the season is also almost upon us! And it’s a costume ball! Who doesn’t love a good costume ball? The Succulent Tart will be sponsoring quite a party at Shadowfang Keep, and what better place for a Hallow’s End party? Check your invitations and if you don’t find yours, perhaps sneak your way in. Surely with a mask, no one will even notice….

The Forsaken are about and rather lively, if I do say so. And to that end, there will be a sermon in the Ruins of Lordaeron. Please remember to be respectful. Perhaps bring a nice candle.

This lady has also been told of a regular gathering in…someplace she has never heard of. This ‘Hallowfall’ seems to be an up and coming locale for get-togethers. Should you find yourself in one of their cities, please be sociable and stop to share a drink.

And finally, there’s been a tussle as of late at the Darkmoon Faire. Lady Whistlingdown isn’t certain what’s going on, but apparently it’s a contest of some sort. We find ourselves rather impressed with the efforts of a certain ‘Goretotem.’ But it’s not too late to try to join the competition!

That’s all for now. Ta-ta.

Fond greetings, dear readers, from your stalwart friend, Lady Whistlingdown. I do hope you’re staying safe and warm during these trying times. Today, I’m bringing a few interesting tidbits that you can curl up with and enjoy with a nice, steaming cup of tea.

I’d like to bring to your attention, gentle readers, that the most mysterious Masked Market was held just a few days ago. It was quite the thing, with many booths of unusual wares sold by equally unusual vendors. Yours truly spotted one vendor who was naught but a disembodied gold mask! One can only imagine what they might be selling….

The Masked Market was also visited by the one and only Lady Moonberry all the way from Ardenweald! She looked in fine form as she made her way through the crowd. If you did not get a chance to visit the market, you missed quite an event indeed!

Another market with a completely different feel was held in Mulgore as well. This one had a lovely raffle for two pieces of art to be commissioned. I do hope the artist offers their services for coin in the future! They seemed quite delightful and this lady would love to have a small portrait of some sort.

There seems to be quite the soiree happening just outside the Caverns of Time! If you’d like to soar with a balloon or hear Loremaster Cho tell a tale, this is the place for you! But don’t be discouraged if you don’t have all the rare and fancy mounts Miss Abigail Cyrildotr seems to have access to. This lady feels it’s just rude for her to show off like that….

Hallow’s End is upon us and to that end, I would like to mention that there are reports of various hauntings and pranks being reported across the land. Some seem fairly harmless, such as candles being blown out. Others are much more scary and have left those who’ve experienced them shaking, sleepwalking or with nightmares. If you find yourself plagued by the sounds of ringing bells or footsteps when no one is there, please take care and find a safe place with crowds of people until the sounds disappear. This lady would not wish to lose a reader to the tricks of an apparition.

And finally, it’s come to my notice that there are many more Dracthyr out and about than have been for quite a few weeks. They seem to come with new sets of skills, and are very pleasant to be around. Should you see one of these newly roving dragonkin, tip your hat and wish them well.

That is all for now! I will return anon with more tales and gossip. Ta-ta!

Hello once again, gentle readers. It’s time to curl up in your easy chair by the fire with another copy of the Wyrmrest Society Papers. And have I got some interesting gossip for you!

As the Hallows End season draws to a close, there was a delightful costume party held at the tavern in Duskwood just a few days ago. Amidst the crowd voting on the well-heeled costumers (this lady does love to make up new words!), I am told that there were several Thomas Bates in attendance. No less than seventeen!

Though I cannot confirm this number of Thomas Bates, I do know that at least one of them had hooves. But of the others? Was one of them his evil twin? Was he somehow split into copies because of the season? Is he back to being simply one Thomas Bates now? Perhaps we’ll have these answers for the next Society Papers.

There was also a seasonal tarot reading held in Drustvar. None of the participants seemed to receive a message of gloom and doom, but their futures remain to be seen. Should you wish to know what your own future holds, perhaps search out Mavva for a reading of your very own.

I have also heard rumors of a mysterious, fetid fog covering Booty Bay to issue in the arrival of a ghost ship, but we are all much too clever to believe anything such as this, hmm? Onto more cheery topics.

There have been no less than three sightings of people using the hot springs and spas across Khaz-Algar. If you have not experienced a soak, I would urge you to break out your bathing attire and try one. They are quite medicinal and can be restorative to sore, tired adventures.

And finally, I would bring to your attention that there is a sort of medical conference to be held in Dornogal tomorrow (11/4). Though the topic is nothing this lady would discuss here in detail, should you wish to attend the presentation, I’m told that the host is one Kalimeris Embersong.

That’s it for now, loyal readers. I’ll return again with more gossip as it is relayed to me. Take care!

Wait. So soaking in hot springs and spas with others is acceptable? I am still learning about all the changes since my long nap but are you sure it is safe? It doesn’t seem like that practice would be very hygienic.

Fair greetings from your boon companion, Lady Whistlingdown. I do have quite a lot to share, so let’s get right down to business, shall we?

Just a little over a week ago, this lady noted a lovely gathering of gentle (and not so gentle) souls at the Light’s Dawn Cathedral. The local Gilneans were welcoming of all who visited that eve, but there are reports of some curious bakery sweets which were shared by a most charming Draenei chef. Surely it’s not true that her pastries would scream and even bleed when being nibbled! This must have been some sort of echo off the stained glass windows, or a trick of the light from the various lamps flickering. What else could it possibly have been? Should you stop by the upcoming Gilneas market, you may sample a cake-of-cup for yourself. Or was that cup-of-cake….

There was also that same evening an almost-altercation between a rather large Worgen and a smaller, quiet gentleman. I’m told the man was all politeness, but one rather questions this, seeing as they almost came to blows before deciding to table their almost-altercation for some later time.

As for this next tale, many Goblins died to bring us this information. Well possibly not, but it does sound quite dramatic when it’s said this way, does it not? In truth, the city of Dornogal has been overrun by these many Goblins! They’ve been seen in Fissure Alley, north of the Coreway and around the giant Forge Hammer. I have heard tales that a certain tavern saw Goblins drowning in a hot spa, as well as cooking on the overheated spa beds! And many reports have it that Goblins were trying their luck at running through the Forge Hammer, only to be crushed into pulverized Goblin bits. One can only imagine what has brought on this very odd behavior.

There is also said to be a coroner and his assistant posted up in Fissure Alley, attending the remains of a poor, unfortunate soul who was taken down by a stool to the head. I know this isn’t quite the thing to discuss in polite company and I’m sure you’ll forgive me for the detail. But should you or yours be missing a scruffy looking man of about six feet in height, carrying a pair of sharp daggers and a stuffed coin pouch, possibly known as Erik, please send word to Yraun. And if you were injured in a tussle with Erik and his stool, you may be entitled to compensation. You will wish to make your claim before his Goblin friend, Zeek does.

On to a more peaceful note. A very talented cook has taken up residence in Stromgarde City. The things he does with breakfast foods are simply prodigious. And I’m told his spider legs are also unmatched. Your pets are very welcome at his tavern, but please leave rude gnomes at home, especially if they like to sit directly on the table.

Let me also remark on the Shaman blessing and feast that was held in the dark of night on Thunderstrike Mountain. All manner of people came together and I’m told many stories of loved ones were shared through smiles and tears.

There’s a hint of architecture on the horizon as this lady has heard tell of new homes soon to be built in the lands. One does like to have a place to come back to and settle in front of a roaring fireplace for a spot of tea and some peaceful reading. I only hope that my dream vacation house isn’t neighbored by a troll in flip-flops on a mower of some sort or a gnome in a funny hat who just stands on his lawn and screams at people, or I’ll never finish my holiday book list! Please remember to be amiable, cordial and most considerate of your neighbors. And double please, no flamingos.

And finally, hold onto your coin pouches! Word has reached me that there was a thief spotted at the Mulgore Market! No solid description was given, nor was the thief caught. But they led a merry chase around the stalls before disappearing. I wonder what might have been stolen.

The hour is getting late, so I must depart. Until next time, gentle readers!

Fond greetings, loyal readers. It is I, Lady Whistlingdown, with yet another set of tales for your amusement. It has been almost two weeks and I have many things to share. Are you ready with your steaming cup of tea? I am.

Let us first begin with a lovely tale about a reception I had the privilege of noting in Silvermoon City’s Hall of Respite. This soiree was filled with the well-heeled denizens of Quel’Thalas, as well as many other nobles, blood knights, some Shal’dorei, a smattering of Goblins, and a few other visitors as well. It was lovely to see so many beautiful people and quite a few topics were discussed.

It has also reached my ears that there will be a Sin’dorei noble court being held in Silvermoon at the Sunfury Spire (12/1). Should you wish to make an appearance, remember to wear your best! Finery should be de rigueur for an event such as this one. Put your best foot forward!

Gilneas recently put out a call for trade, which resulted in a well-stocked market. Vendors from all around came with wares for sale and several good deals were had. There were also many appetizing foods and drinks. One Worgen gentleman was seen to be stuffing his face full of cakes! If that is any indication of quality, I would invite you to run to the next market, gentle reader. One can never have enough desserts - or umbrellas, as the weather was a bit damp.

It was suggested to me that I need more news of the Tauren community, and I will not disagree. This lady relies on the tales and tips from many sources and could definitely use a few more from our friendly Shu’halo neighbors. To that end, I do have a most interesting tale from a recent Story Circle. It seems that a Centaur attended the gathering to tell a tale of her own! This particular Centaur was simply too good looking to be from Kalimdor. I believe she must have traveled all the way from the Dragon Isles. I’m gladdened to say that the Tauren welcomed her and allowed her to tell her story.

And finally, some news from Duskwood! It appears that there are no longer seventeen copies of Thomas Bates in the Scarlet Raven. However, it appears his mysterious, animated armor was out and about, and performing odd hand shaking rituals. We should not speculate whether these rituals are the start of some kind of cult or secret society. I’m certain they have nothing to do with that. And also nothing to do with the discussion of murder that was happening closer to the bar. This lady does feel that there’s something she’s forgetting about that evening, but alas, it will have to wait for another issue.

That is all I have to impart for now. Keep an eye out for discussion of armor repair in time for a new exploration, and a pair of store openings. Until then, cheers!

Just a quick OOC note.

Per request, I have changed the name of Lady Whistlingdown’s society paper and removed another reference to Harry Potter that was contained in one of the posts. These things were done to eliminate any references to JK Rowling and her agenda. Apologies to others in the LGBTQIA+ community. I honestly didn’t think when I picked a name and I should have. That was on me.

In addition, if anyone is offended by anything I post in the future, or really doesn’t want to participate in what was meant to be a light-hearted way to share information about events and showcase some of the fun people are having, please please reach out to me directly. I’m always happy to make changes so that others feel safe and comfortable.

If you would like your events “covered” by the Society Papers, feel free to message me in-game or in Discord, where I’m chocolatechipkirsy.

Felicitations, gentle readers. Did you miss me? It’s tea time once again, so settle in and let us start with the elves.

There was quite a lively court held in Silvermoon a few days ago. Many Sin’dorei nobles and citizens, as well as some Shal’dorei and a few others were in attendance. One would expect the official business of a court to be quite mundane. But this court was rare, indeed. There was quite a lot of lively discourse that caused a bit of distress among several of the crowd. I was even told there was a duel!

And speaking of elves, a lovely Sin’dorei dressed in silvery white found her way into the cathedral in Gilneas as a group of tourists and locals were congregating there. This lady is sad to report that many sharp comments were offered until she finally left. One wonders if she was trying to stir trouble. Most unfortunate, indeed.

In happier news, there was a lovely gathering in Dornogal, where several blacksmiths and craftspeople met to work on armor and weapons. I’m told that a bow was expertly repaired and that a full set of plate armor was created before a Dwarven workman passed out. There were also Tauren and Pandaren in attendance, and meals were graciously served. How very warm and kind in comparison to the earlier tales I’ve related today.

And also along those lines, there was a large, steaming pot of stew and some fine drinks shared among travelers at the Crossroads quite recently. I’m told there was a bard, a baby and also someone trying to recruit for some type of evil crime syndicate. I’m afraid I don’t have details on that, other than to say that no one seemed eager to join.

Until next time, readers. Take care!

Good eve and good tidings, gentle readers! I do hope this Winter Veil is finding you giving and receiving some much-desired gifts after a lovely holiday meal. As this scribe has been gifted a new pen, I have decided to use it in a quickly jotted note for the fine and refined to pore over and peruse.

First off, let me introduce our new title: This society paper will from henceforth be called the Wyrmrest Society Quill. It seems quite fitting; a new identity for the New Year. You can be assured that my pen will continue to write many entries to entertain and entice.

Next, onto festivities. Many holiday parties have been held in the past few days, with more to come as the New Year approaches. I hope you have been lucky enough to attend at least one. Those who are not out on that mysterious newly discovered Isle may have also noticed that there are many fresh holiday fashions being sold in our cities. Be certain to find yours today, before the celebrations are over.

Several people may have received gifts through the mail in the past day or two. If you received something from “Wintersmash”, be assured it is part of the annual Secret Santa exchange and will be quite safe and pleasant to open. Someone sending out with the pseudonym of “Maildelivery” may be having a holiday jest, however. Anyone knowing the identity of this person - keep it secret, keep it safe.

There has also been spotted a new wanderer making his way about Orgrimmar. Arukoru has currently gone walkabout with his little companion, Brewnard. Should you find this Pandaren on his way to Azshara, offer him a drink and a friendly word. Perhaps you will be featured in his travel blog.

And finally, a gathering of Forsaken have been sighted in Hallowfall. It seems they were deep into discussions. Whether it was philosophy or gossip remains to be seen, though conversation seemed to be amicable.

That is all for now. Until next time, readers. I wish you a safe and happy holiday!

A new year, a new you. That is what this author says at the beginning of every fresh turn of the calendar. And new days bring new gossip. Let us have at it, shall we?

There was a rather well attended court just a few days ago in Silvermoon City. Indeed, well-heeled nobility and lesser-heeled others turned out in a rousing session to discuss business. To whit, the court opened with discussions of possible trade with Gilneas, but with the caveat that despite the peace treaty, unescorted Alliance may prove a threat to security of the city’s own surrounding territories. Although many may not share these sentiments, it was noted that there could also be remaining pockets of Scourge to deal with, as well as permissions to cross Forsaken territory with imported Gilnean or Alliance goods. (There was also something about a cat from a noble house trying to visit the court, but this lady did not understand anything about where the cat was coming from. Alas, the cat was not permitted to speak.)

There was some discussion on a matter of honor in possibly discussing with the Forsaken if they needed any aid in reclaiming or maintaining their holdings in Lordaeron from any Scarlet or Scourge remnants. Additionally no less than three noble houses sponsored a Pandaren, one Chowzen Shiwu, to be allowed to speak. He made mention of the fierce loyalty of the Forsaken to their own and their allies, and the likelihood that they would know best about what goes on in their territory.

Speaking of Pandaren, this same Chowzen has been spotted once again in Silvermoon City, offering up fare from not only Pandaria’s own kitchens, but from other lands as well. Many others have been strolling and promenading along the Walk of Elders frequently as well. One such lad was seen carrying a crate off to a store, then returning with a larger crate. And what were in these mysterious crates? I’ve heard it said that maybe it was cursed gauntlets! But one never knows without looking.

La, that is my tale for now! I must rest my quill. Until next time!

Dearest readers, it is my great pleasure to offer to you another installment of the Wyrmrest Society Quill. Thankfully there are no scandals this week, but I still have many interesting happenings to report. Among them is word of pirates recently overrunning Arathi, as well as heavy storms ushering them inland in search of plundered gold. If one finds themself having to traverse that land in the next few days, play it safe and hide at the edge of any blustery winds you can find. I’m told that pirates hate squalls.

On to pleasant news. A most delightful debate was held once again by the Thunder Bluff Debate Society, with lively commentary and participation. The discussion of faith was the topic, and I would entreat you that if you have not attended one of these in Dornogal, that you consider the next one, where the topic will be the mystery of Beledar. If you have an opinion to share about this giant crystal, make your way to the Speaker’s Terrace in about three weeks’ time.

This lady also made a trek to a curious Night Market which was held in Tolvir of all places. Many merchants were selling all manner of goods to absolute record crowds! There were so many people bustling to and fro, shopping at various booths and stands. And then at the end of the evening was a conga dance line and a most spectacular firework display! If there is another to be held, it is not to be missed!

And finally this brings us to the Grand Iris Gala. Held in the lovely gardens of Suramar, there was food, drink and dancing as well as vendors and camaraderie. The language of flowers was the theme and many followed the dress code of black formal attire, while others dressed their best in other colors. I can tell you that their tea and crab cakes were among the finest I’ve ever had.

That is all the gossip I have for now. Talk to you soon!

Dear gentle readers, it is so good to be back with you. I have a few items to report:

First off, there seems to be a great gathering of the Forsaken and the Dead in Duskwood this week. They appear to be having a sort of meeting of the minds. Should you be someone of the passed on variety, you may wish to check out the goings on.

Speaking of Forsaken, Silvermoon seeks an Ambassador to Lordaeron. Should you wish to apply, please seek out the Lady Chancellor Lunimarch and hand in your resume. I could not tell you the requirements for such a job, but it sounds quite important, indeed!

There was also quite a shindig held in Silvermoon - a Love is in the Air and Single Awareness Day celebration. There were vendors, food, a matching couple contest (3rd place by a very fair couple of Vulpera!), a kissing booth and some lovely food selections. If you missed it, you’ll just have to wait until next year…although there is a Spring Fling coming up in a few short weeks.

I’m told there was a rowdy party in the inn in Stormwind’s Dwarven District last night, where several Gnomes, an Earthen and a Worgen seemed to be visibly tipsy. I wonder what they were celebrating? Only a night later has a plot been uncovered to poison the water supply in Stormwind! And I’m told that roaches have been spotted in the Trade District! What is the city coming to, oh dear! Perhaps some intrepid adventurers will take care of these problems before they grow.

And the last of my news is even more shocking! There has been spotted a Nerubian nest of sorts in Stranglethorn! The force seems to be making its way north. You may wish to stay off the roads for the next few weeks until this problem can be handled.

That is all for now. I hope my next missive will bring better news. Until then, I remain….
Your friend, Lady Whistlingdown
