The wrong side of 30

30 is definitely the threshold where you feel your negatives way more acutely if you didn’t put a lot of work in your teens and 20s to be healthy. I got sick twice last year within the span of 3 months, once with a cold that left me with probably the worst throat infection I’ve ever had and pink eye.

My god… to me, that’s like pouring lemon juice in a paper cut. I couldn’t do it. I’d die. OJ was the worst thing anyone could offer me when I had strep. lol

But this… this helped me a LOT!

Yes. But only for old mistakes. You tend to find new crap to mess up and learn from later on lol.

Drink enough of that and you probably won’t care that you’re sick.

LOL with the rum? Probably not. Without? At least it’ll be nice and soothing.

hey thanks for the drink recommendation! thanks for taking part in the forum!
yes the orange juice cuts… but it cuts so good it makes it feel good, even if only for a few seconds. I find it actually quite soothing tbh.
Since the word rhum was brought up, im just going to add that I may or may not have added a shot of vodka to the OJ for that extra soothing effect.

I think im just going to be hanging out on these forums and sitting at the pub in boralus next to the inn drinking the “aurora borealis” listening to some good tunes on spotify.

Cholraseptic drops are also awesome.

I should probably stay clear of this thread since I can get it from someone saying the word more than twice, AND I have not seen thirty for more years than I have had Strep. My advice is to get plenty of rest, and stay positive. That it will only get worse once you turn 40.

I’d suggest a ‘hot toddy’ for OP.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup water
  • 1 ½ ounces whiskey
  • 2 to 3 teaspoons honey, to taste
  • 2 to 3 teaspoons lemon juice, to taste
  • 1 lemon round
  • 1 cinnamon stick (optional, for garnish)

Recipe

  1. In a teapot or saucepan, bring the water to a simmer. Pour the hot water into a mug.
  2. Add the whiskey, 2 teaspoons honey and 2 teaspoon lemon juice. Stir until the honey has disappeared into the hot water. Taste, and add 1 teaspoon honey for more sweetness, and/or 1 teaspoon more lemon juice for more zing.
  3. Garnish with a lemon round and cinnamon stick (if using). Enjoy!

I’ve personally made hibiscus (instead of lemon + cinnamon) hot toddies at my job, worked as a barista/bartender.

They were a favorite in the cold months.

My own favorite drink was the Irish coffees we’d make lol, but that certainly wouldn’t help.

Oh man.

I wasn’t gonna call it that but now I feel like I have to call it that.

Gargling salt water helps with sore throat too.

historically when i get wicked bad strep thats what I do,
but I feel like the current level i’m at right now is manageable. if it gets worse before these anti-biotics kick in that’s what i’m going to be doing

ive never had one but ive heard a lot about them, seems simple enough and i can imagine what it tastes like. a lot of people where im from and live (my home) Newfoundland, that is a sure-fire go-to solution to a sore thought or dry cough

Been sick myself for about 2-3 weeks now with a bad sinus infection and cold. Hope you’re on the mend. I’m slowly getting there.

Speaking of which… I used to get strep at least once a year, sometimes twice. My freshman year of college, I got it in spring while home on break. The doc said if I get it again, they’ll have to remove my tonsils.

Apparently my tonsils took that as a threat and I never got strep again.
