How comms are handed out has evolved over time. I remember there was a time back around Heavensward where people just comād any female toon in the party. That died out towards giving the comm to healers and tanks, which slowly eroded over time.
I have no hard evidence for my statement, but more an observation. I play a catboy, and I used to do healing a lot around Heavensward with my friend, who played a machinist and a catgirl. Around 90% of the parties we were in together they left with all three comms. After like a solid month they had over ten times the comms I had, and it wasnāt as if I was a terrible healer or anything because I had tanks tell me it was a relief to finally have a healer who could handle big pulls for a change.

I have finally stopped procrastinating and made an account! Downloading now. I guess I know people on Crystal -> Goblin, and I guess I can move around servers to hassle people or something? I donāt really know how this works but weāll give it the olā college try.

you can freely move around the worlds (servers, using your example Goblin is a world) located in a single datacenter (Crystal, Goblinās DC) once you can access the aetherytes of any of the main 3 cities (Limsa Lominsa, Ulādah, Gridania)
most of us are on crystal b/c RP reasons, Mateus and Balmung being the most active but the rest of the servers having a bunch of communities too
and even if you werenāt on crystal thereās some smaller communities on other DCs

Also in an upcoming patch (5.58 I think they said?) theyāre adding data center travel just like how currently thereās server travel. Thatās still a couple months away but Iām like 90% sure they said itās coming before the expansion proper.

Yeah, they do big infrastructure stuff like that before expansion release so they can get the kinks worked out first. They also said youāll be able to do duties and stuff but not much else in regards to Market Boards and whatnot.
Iām pretty excited to run stuff on Excal with my content-running FC and then have them come to Crystal to see what itās all about.

On a more serious note - itās surprising that it took all but five minutes for the conversation to escalate to comparisons with a spotted hyena, a certain āanime tropeā mentioned further up and into comparisons in the realms of Vault 69 in Fallout.
Listen, thereās two possibilities here that have nothing to do with spotted hyenas:
- All of them start out as female and some turn into males throughout adolescence. Itās as simple as that.
- The developers didnāt have a meeting in their calendar called ādo they look like Ken?ā to discuss this and simply thought this was a neat tidbit, and Reddit is reading waaayyy too much into a throwaway piece of lore.
