The WoW token is coming

I think we need to come to terms with the fact that the wow token is coming to all classic servers. I know allot of you (me included) want to hold unto hope that we can some how hold it back with our voices but lets be real here guys. If you have kept up with gaming for long enough to be a fan of classic you all know how this ends. Pandora’s box was opened with paid transfers. the token is next and will be followed with equally devastating microtransactions.

I knew this was coming from the start. I knew it and i still wanted to believe this game would be a safe haven for old gamers like me. somewhere we could play a real game and not get pestered to shell out more and more cash on top of paying a premium 60$ or a subscription fee. I really hate being right all the time…

Just because they offer something in China, that doesn’t automatically mean it’s being added to the US and EU versions of the game as well. Overwatch players in China have been able to purchase in-game currency directly for 3 years now.

While it may not guarantee it coming to US/EU, it presents a huge red flag that can’t be ignored. Put yourself in a company executives shoes that has to appease investors. If doing this given action correlates to improved profits by a significant margin, then to further increase profits would suggest that they would implement it elsewhere. So don’t take this lightly.

Let be very clear here: I hope you are right and i am wrong. however history and my own experience with blizzard tells me that I’m not. again I truly do hope that I am wrong.

Stop with the doom and gloom. Activision will monetize every single bit of the game they can. You have maybe a year of classic left. Enjoy it and when you clear naxx or AQ or whatever your goal is then quit the game and never look back.

If you want it to stop. Stop paying them.

I’d also add Asia to that, as China is a separate market.

the whole point of classic was to have something gamers could always come back to. D2 servers are still running to this day and that game is even older then wow! Why can’t we have that? why is it so hard?

Slippery Slope.

Not to mention their Game is slightly different then our’s. Particularly pertaining to the Undead and Scourge.

I’m curious what’s different in that regard?

No bones are showing, for their undead (in fact, they’re called Forsaken, not Undead) Characters. Death Knights are called “Fade Knights”. The big abomination’s bellies are actually covered, etc. Their culture has a thing about “Death” or something.

EDIT: Video made 2 years before this token nonsense - https://youtu.be/aycxWsFMD_o

I know when tokens come out that there will be immediate inflation. But folks like me who dont have hours to grind will stop farming and simply buy gold. I think the items sold by the dire hard farmers will sell for even more money, and offset that inflation.
In the end, gold can only get you so many boe’s.

I didn’t play this ladder, but I played last ladder season (for the first time in quite a few years). It’s still a pretty fun game

I dont really see inflation happening all that much in Classic if the token is introduced. Considering the gold is basically transferred from one player to another that means the gold players are selling the tokens for was already in the economy to begin with.

The tokens did not cause the inflation with retail, that would be the mission tables in WoD. Even I who never had 100k prior to WoD accumulated 4.7 million gold from WoD without ever having sold a token. The mission table introduced so much gold into the economy that Blizzard wasn’t prepared for.

How many tokens will high Warlord cost. As that’s what people are going to be buying.

Dont think anyone will be buying R14 as that would entail account sharing. There may be some but its going to be a very, very small population doing it.

You see my point though. Add in tokens for gold. How much will it cost me to buy high Warlord from blizzard.

It wont happen. There is a cap on how many tokens you can buy in a certain amount of time. Considering how much work would have to be done to get R14, the amount you get from the tokens wouldnt come close to the amount of gold teams would require you to pay to attempt to carry you to R14. It simply will not happen.

They’ll never add a cash shop to WoW. That’s just Asian MMOs in Asian markets.

Cool im buying like 10 right off the bat so I can have more gold then anyone on my server.

Doubt you will have the most if you buy 10. I think a logical amount a token would go for is 300-400. Theres people out there with more than 4000 gold
