The WoW stuttering bug nobody talks about

I’ve looked around the forums for quite a long time and I hardly ever notice anyone mention this, I am wondering if Blizzard themselves even know about it.

But if you’re in game and you hover your mouse down around the question mark icon where you check your ping and FPS in game… The game stutters like hell.

It’s not an addon thing cause it does it even with no addons installed and on a hell of a high end system so system specs are out of the question.

I find it funny but I am wondering if anyone else has seen this before?

Not me. Probably why I never talk about it. lol.

That doesn’t sound normal. It’s entirely possible that you need to delete caches or something though, or perhaps there’s a corrupted file that needs addressing with the repair tool. I would give those a try. If none of that works though, bug reports are your best course of action, in my opinion. Posting a thread about it might get more attention, but you’d have better luck in the Bug Report section.

Heres the weird thing, I am a system builder and test WoW as one of the main games on each of them lmao… happens on all of em.

That’s…definitely strange, yeah. Sounds more like a bug then. lol

Have not experienced this issue.

I did experience an issue where I changed a couple Graphics settings while running the game on my Mac and it caused the FPS on my Windows machine to drop down to 8 FPS. That was annoying but I reset to default on the Windows machine and adjusted from there to get back up to 120+ FPS. The current settings seem to work on both machines now.

Yeah. Throubleshooting steps should go as follows:

  1. Exit game, delete cache folder, try again.
  2. Exit game, do a full UI reset, try again.
  3. Run repair tool.

It’s not a bug, the game is loading the information present on the tooltip in real-time for you (which reduces the framerate):

  • Latency (both home and world)
  • Framerate
  • Bandwidth
  • Download
  • AddOn Memory

Never seen that one. Very weird.

Never happened to me.

I’ve been seeing this a LOT but figured it was just me since I run WoW on Linux. If you really want to see the issue, open the character screen and start walking. Close the character screen and the issue will stop. I did this in old dalaran yesterday. It’s not dependent on having the screen open but it is reproducible for me in a low population area doing that. When I am playing the memory events I sometimes can barely function (no screens open).

Nope sure haven’t

Nope. Just went and check and no stuter at all.

Mine does the same thing, if I mouse over it to see my fps/latency the game stutters. But I don’t really do that often enough to investigate or care I guess.

Holy cow. I just tried it right now and it really happened.
Also, I found this via google cause my game is stuttering like hell.

I thought this was going to be about how the decryption algorithm for cutscenes doesn’t work right on AMD machines and turns all the voiceovers into Max Headroom until the whole game just hangs.
