People in this community are so demanding of the game developers to do what they want and not what the general population want and just want everything to be catered to them on a silver plater. Which to me it sounds like selfish behavior. And not just that these people expect that the WOW team to do everything perfectly and want them to design the game towards the high end and want them to implement more complexity than say accessibility and also designing a game not for the average player.
âI only have 30 minutes of free time after work to play this game and youâre ruining it!â
Iâve seen this kind of comment plenty of times and people can be very annoying.
Actually, Iâd be just fine if they worked a bit LESS hard to include every single fringe request made by special interest groups.
Itâd be fine if they just stuck to completely fictional scenarios with fictional races and themes and didnât bother to address contemporary real-life themes at all.
But thatâs impossible. I know what youâre getting at. youâre not being that subtle.
But war, factions (think political or citizenship), religion, disease, are all imitating life. And I canât know you on a deep personal level but you seem to be ok with that. You just draw the line at what your sensibilities are.
Youâre as equally esoteric in that regard.
A massive online community and always being able to find something to complain about.
Name a more iconic duo
Yes.
The best games stick their guns when it comes to their design philosophy. Caving to everyone just waters down the game.
How do you know thatâs not that our design philosophy? The game changes just as much as the staff changes, climate of society changes.
what many people call pandering is just the way the wind blows. We live in confusing but exciting times where everyone has a chance to live a happy life openly.
Another Chases thread ![]()
Devâs ask for feedback.
They get feedback
Blizzard have been asking us what we want since the beginning (IRC w/ Bill Roper for example).
Gamers are a demanding bunch.
Not sure what the purpose this thread serves, other than to troll the community tbh.
Wait thatâs Chases?
I was wondering why I hadnât seen him in a long while.
Yep. Brand new name, same old trolling,
Itâs as if people donât understand that an MMO has to cater to a broad scope of different players. They donât even try to understand that designing content that gives everyone something they enjoy means that not everything will be enjoyable by everyone. They think everything is about them.
Humans acting human is⌠Surprising to you?
They push personalization - not that theyâre unique in this, because a lot of companies do it - itâs what folks want. But the best way to not actively irritate people is to make things fictional and generic. Introducing real world elements into the game for small special interest groups is sure to irritate. All injections of contemporary real-world issues into a fictional world are stilted, obvious, and break the flow of the game previously established as fictional.
This is to be expected, since people are used to the fictional world they had for the first 17 years, before the decision to inject reality into it.
You are more likely to be successful, long run, in focusing not on pleasing little groups, but avoiding irritating people in general. Lowest common denominator and all - just stick to the fiction.
Donât confuse this forum for the community at large. This place represents the worst of the worst ![]()
You donât know me.
Duck mounts!! This is necessary!!
So youâre just going to ignore all the other real world references theyâve made in the last seventeen years?
If so then I can just ignore your comments and call it a day.
Well, yeah! Iâd prefer you did that rather than exploit the flag-bombing technique that the lack of battletags allows.
You have no obligation to listen to me if you can just block me and feel like doing that. Iâm not posting to FORCE you to listen; Iâm just posting to share my own views, and if people like them, fine. If not, thatâs fine too if they can disagree in an adult fashion.
Adding diverse characters is sure to irritate bigots. Iâm kinda cool with that.
The more of them who leave the community, the better.
The problem is that it will also irritate the rp âpurists,â and people who play games to escape real life, briefly - not be confronted by it again in a game. But yes, I know you want me gone.
I donât return the favor. I disagree with your views and opinions, but that doesnât mean I hate you or wish any negative consequences for your life.
