The WORST WoW Expansion

In your opinion, what was the worst WoW expansion? For me, it was Shadowlands.

Burning Cruwusade and it’s not even close.

what did you not like about Burning Crusade?

More Vanilla sounds like an awful experience.

Class balance, probably.

The War Within and it isn’t even close. I don’t even want to call it an expansion. TWW felt like a repetitive patch.

TWW boring. Just too boring. This is the most boring “expansion” I have ever seen.

Horrible! The raids and m+ are so overturned and boring. open world content, sucks. I have better things to do then farm renown like a turtle.

A lot, it had a lot of early bad WoW questing, a meme of raid unlocking, end game world content being things like the Skyguard in Skettis where people can just steal a summon that took you an hour to get, the PvP hills were interesting till flight became common, a lot of dungeons yet only like 4-5 were any fun, if I ever have to quest in Hellfire again I will be very very sad

By damage done to gameplay: WoD.

By damage done to the lore: Shadowlands.

By my least personal enjoyment: WoD.

I’m not a person to care for nostalgia so… the worst expansion to date was probably the Burning Crusade or Wrath of the Lich King. But that’s from a look back of how the game is now.

If I’d have to say the worst expansion when it was current content then I’d probably have to say… Cataclysm, then WoD, and then Shadowlands. Because Cataclysm committed several mistakes that made the entire world less engaging, Warlords simply lasted too long without much content (albeit what was there was engaging), and Shadowlands made a single egregious mistake that completely ruined the expansion but otherwise… it was actually fairly decent - not great by any metric, and Zovaal is the worst antagonist WoW has ever had.

But with all of that said, the one mistake Shadowlands actually made that influenced and steered every negative aspect of it is that they simply created different disconnected shards. There wasn’t a coherent world to explore during Shadowlands, more like different tourist spots.

So yeah, depends on what you are asking when you say the “worst” WoW expansion.

Probably WoD, but WoD had the best soundtrack since Wrath. So Shadow Lands.

I loved ShadowLands.
Best one since, Wrath
for me.

WOD gave us player housing.
I can’t understate the relevance of that!

Cataclysm and i Mean cata and I am not lumping in classic like chromie does.

I was pleased we gained Highlands as a zone, but I was devastated they killed the barrens, which is solely responsible for getting me interested in wow.

That is why I talk fondly of Deathwing or somebody obliterating Goldshire to achieve parity and see how many people still want to play alliance!

I loved Shadowlands, though I admit it was flawed. Warlords and the second half of Systems for Azeroth were the worst, in my opinion.

Everyone, including Blizzard has said that was not player housing.

I’ve liked them all, for the most part. My least favorite (without explaining why) would be BFA.

BfA because they destroyed Sylvanas.

Shadowlands and it’s not even close.

The only one that even remotely approaches it is WoD. And that’s only because WoD was literally unfinished.

Which was all prep for the dumpster fire that was Shadowlands.

WoD at least had the excuse that it wasn’t finished. SL was actually planned and fully completed as what it ended up being.

BFA. But I didn’t play SL and DF (because of how bad BFA was).

Cata is the worst for me. Too many fundamental changes to WoW that we have not recovered from.

True. It started during the BfA Prepatch event.
