I think we all agree vanilla was a lot better gameplay than BFA, but it wasn't perfect. They attempted to improve on it each expansion but in many cases, these improvements led to where we are now.
So for better or worse, a lot of these problems could come back in Classic. What are some of the things you hated about Vanilla?
I'll start:
1. The druid aquatic form is ugly as sin.
2. Raiding class balance: Only warriors are viable main tanks.
(Remember, people: these are just opinions and all are welcome here.)

The PVP grind was insane.

The PVP rank/honor system was the best part of Vanilla. You could dive as deeply as you wanted into the effort, or just casually pvp and sport a rank toward the middle of the pack. Nothing wrong with being a Blood Guard or Sargent. Everyone doesn't get to be High War Lord.

Literal leveling is soooo slow, it's like carrying a boulder up the hill, and it doesn't even start out fast, because every time you attack something it takes all of your mana and half your life to kill. And this trend just continues. It's both a down and an upside, it basically forces you to get a group the faster the better. And at the same time guarantees that anything meaningful will be done with other people. The downside is soloing is not your friend in classic content.
No fillers, no battle pets, no dailies, basically nothing that isn't the main grind or pvp exists in vanilla, now that does make it very straight forward, but the downside is once you've done it once when you do it again it's just repetitive, because nothing changes at all from 1 character to the next in terms of leveling.

The worst part about vanilla is going to be dealing with the loot drama when you do a raid with people who have only played later expansions. 5-6 upgrades for your entire group per raid is going to make those people go nuts.

Ugly models, insane pvp grind and an over reliance on warriors and priests as the main tanks and healers.
Oh and bugs but I assume they'll be smoothed out.

Night elves, gnomes and the horde
I don't hate anything about Vanilla. I very much enjoy the sense of class and faction identity. I even enjoy the high cost of respec as it creates a spec identity as well. You can tell a lot of care went into the dungeons and raids.
PvP may be a shade bursty for my tastes but it's still fun. I really loved BGs being only people from your server. It was really fun to see the same people and develop rivalry. It was worth potentially longer queue times.
I didn't care for wall jumping as it led to shenanigans in BGs but it did allow for some very cool exploration. Being summoned into the crypts below Karazhan is one of my fondest Vanilla memories.
All in all there are imperfections with the game but most of them are there because they allow for something else really great to exist. Like you said "fixing" these problems led to the deterioration of the game.

Dishonorable kills working on party
Falling through the world and boats when you got cc'd
Not being able to use mounts on certain spots randomly throughout the world because the game thought you were indoors
Unbalanced faction racials (specifically WOTF)
There's a lot more little things I'm forgetting but I'm sure I'll remember them when I play again.

Yes indeed, it means a lot, A LOT, your sense of accomplishment is well deserved.10/28/2018 09:22 AMPosted by Thermiss10/28/2018 09:20 AMPosted by MoosicalLiteral leveling is soooo slow, it's like carrying a boulder up the hill, and it doesn't even start out fast, because every time you attack something it takes all of your mana and half your life to kill. Some ghost runs are really brutal, a specific example I remember off the top of my head being in the southern Barrens. But on the flipside, it means death is more impactful and you think twice about charging into battle without a care.
Bag space is really low for the majority of your leveling experience.
And it forces you to make choices about which spells to use, and when. Whereas now you can spam your most mana inefficient spell without any worries of going oom.

Man I agree with all these points that are regularly made, but the one thing people overreact to IMO is CRBG... There was still community among your battlegroup. I regularly saw the same people in matches. I get the points people bring up for not having it and if it wasn't there that would be cool, but it wasn't a bad change IMO. Had its pros and cons.
Also the ranking system was sweet, but I see why they changed it. I liked that it was there should i ever give up on real life.

I can truly say that the only thing I disliked about vanilla were the clown suits. But you felt that much more satisfaction when you achieved your full raid set.
Too many filler items in the crafting system. I liked the way Lord of the Rings Online did it more. Was fun leveling your skill by crafting new gear you actually wanted to use.
Funny thing, LOTRO recently announced legacy servers.
Not saying BFA has better crafting. I don’t play currently. It’s probably worse now.

Bag space, gah seems like from BC to Snore more in Garrisonor the first thing i did when i made a new toon was log out an mail a set of netherweave bags, its going to be painful actually using 4 slot bags again and getting stupidly excited if I find a 12 slot bag.
