The Worst Part of Mythic+

The timer is something that you have previous knowledge of, and you use that knowledge to help plan your routes.

Routes are arguably the most important part of m+, and it’s a huge skill gap between people who know what they’re doing and people who don’t.

if people want to go into dungeons that are difficult; plan pulls, etc, m+ is literally that. this is what we do prior to putting the key in.

we don’t go in and yolo things and just go fast and hope to time the key.

every mob is preplanned. we do the hard thinking before the dungeon. the timer is in mind while creating these routes, and that’s FUN.

The worst part of M+ is that it’s just bad.

All of that can and does exist without a timer in game.

Speed running shouldn’t be a metric of success for future content. The time saved is the success and the rank earned is whatever you want it to be.

Like i said, if you’re googling things about m+ this convo is a bit out of your key range.

Hope you understand.

So M+ is all about routes and mechanics aren’t even a factor to begin with. Which again, calls into question how a timer improves that gameplay. Routes will be created regardless, and a timer just now mandates that you know how to do it beforehand, rather than learning it through the dungeon.

I learned routes by doing M0 before M+ released. Someone who hasn’t learned the routes in that time is now expected to know it before stepping foot into the M+. Which again, is trash gameplay design.

You can feel how you want about the timer for sure, but this is part of the fun of m+.

if you don’t enjoy it that’s cool, but we make routes with the timer in mind and it adds to the excitement of the key going well after planning it all and doing it within the timer. you can feel however you want about it, but this is the fun and the challenge.

Thats fine you enjoy it, it just doesn’t feel like it should be weighed as much for players that don’t like speed running or the meta it brings.

There is nothing fun about HAVING to use shroud of concealment to appease the timer than OPTIONALLY using it without the presence of a timer. I prefer having choice, thanks.

You have tons of “choice” in these dungeons and if you don’t see that by playing then we’re just again, out of our area of knowledge.

I never said it’s too hard to deal with. It’s just the gain in percentage versus the time wasted isn’t worth it.

That’s where maximizing time separates bad players from good players.

The fact you think people skip trash because they can’t handle it lool.

There is no choice in a M+ environment. There is the route you’re supposed to run, the exact mob packs to pull, and the exact time you’re supposed to complete it. That isn’t fun.

I’d have more choice about my routing and what mob packs I prefer to pull without the presence of a timer, and I think that accessibility of options is what improves pug experiences.

For example, I can choose to do Terros next, or I can choose to do Council, or I can choose to do Sennarth. And that makes raiding more enjoyable because if we are stuck on one boss, we can go to another then come back to it.

That choice isn’t available in M+ because you can either do the route in time, or you don’t. Which is terrible.

Worst part of M+ is pugging, the rest is whatever. When you have guildies online M+ is pure fun, but on pugs the chance of you getting someone that probably forgets how to even breath when they wake up is just waaaay too high.

If you don’t think there’s choice in these dungeons then you just don’t do them. that’s fine, i dunno what else to tell you.

you don’t need to explain to me how i make routes lmao i think i got that one down. there’s definitely a ton of optional skips and the timers are super forgiving on like 6 out of the 8 keys.

if u wanna tell everyone there’s no choice then that’s on u. sadly that’s just incorrect.

You have your spellbook from mage tower?

I am fine with maximizing time, that’s what people do in raids. People maximized time in Classic all the time and they didn’t need a timer to do it. They were given the option to maximize their time and take the most efficient route, or they could choose the inefficient route but it doesn’t matter because we’ll still complete it on OUR OWN TIME anyway!

See all of this talk can happen between players who are still speed running or trying to rank in those regards.

Players speed run in all games!

No reason to force others into speed running meta, imo.

There isn’t a set route though. Even top players can disagree about the best paths and packs to fight for percent. There’s actually quite a bit of leeway in the timer besides on really high keys, so you can pretty easily go where you want and pull what you want and still make time just fine.

which you can still do with like minded people. this isn’t a m+ issue, this is a YOU issue

Wait what dungeon are you actually using shroud in now?
