The worst part of getting old is seeing your friends change

It’s a good thing all my friends are on the same page as me. None of the crazy conspiracy theories. Or I’m not going to wear a mask screw everyone else. Or reverse something something and it’s time we do something about it. Or born to be a hypocrite pushing their grandmas out of the way to get in line first to be vaccinated when the pandemic is not real. Yeah life is good.

That ain’t music!

Sure, as long as you recognize that intolerance and misinformation are not the same things as opinions and anyone spreading either deserves to be shunned and ostracized.

They’ve always been that way. You just never realized it.

This is the most important part about being a friend. Diversity of thought and ideas is where we learn the most, so respecting those in others is important, especially if those thoughts and ideas make you uncomfortable.

I have a very very good friend who believes that there isn’t any circumstance where pineapple is good on pizza and I in turn believe that sushi is gross. But if we were to go out to eat, we would find a way for her to have her sushi and I to have my pineapple on pizza.

It kinda does now… I stopped trying to do what I did when I was young. Its impossible

I’d like to point out, on that note, that taking care of your body will make a huuuuuge difference in the amount of pain you experience as you age.

I was hit by a drunk driver in my 20s and I have permanent damage to several joints, as well as my back. I was in chronic pain for most of my 20s and early 30s. Once I started to build muscle, the stress on my back and some joints was greatly reduced, and I actually feel better now than I did 5/10 years ago in a lot of ways.

For the rest of my body, let’s just hope we have cybernetics sooner rather than later.

Edit: When I say I got hit, I mean I got HIT. I have massive scars across my body that I usually cover up because I get tired of hearing “How on earth did you get THAT”

If I can build myself back up and reduce chronic pain, you can too.

but now old friends they’re acting strange
And they shake their heads, they say I’ve changed
Well something’s lost, but something’s gained
In living every day

seeing my childhood friends becomes crazy zealous when comes to political

Indeed it does. I have a number of friends who were very active in sports as kids and young adults while I was sitting on my rear end playing on my Atari 2600 and later my NES. Now that we are all over 50 they are having issues with their legs, knees, and back, while I feel great. Not criticizing then at all, mind you, but… who says playing video games isn’t good for your health? It actually is, if you take the long view.

This is the Off-Topic Forum, it doesn’t have to have a relation to WoW

For me the worst part of getting old is the Physical part. I used to be an Athlete, now I look at the stairs leading to my 2nd floor apartment and think “Do I really need to go up there?”, and at the grocery store I pass by the Pastry Section and look at all the pretty things I can no longer have

It must have gotten moved recently. It was in GD when it was originally posted.

It was in GD when I posted this, I’ve only ever been in GD or Zul’jin sub forum.

Just saw this, so excuse the late reply.

I’m a huge, huuuge gamer. While it’s not necessarily bad for your health, physical activity is really important to mental and physical well-being.

Sure, gaming (with an appropriate setup) will leave you less joint and back pain than activity, but for most people, your cardiovascular system is gonna be in crap condition.

No worries. Yes, I agree that physical activity is important… but it’s possible to be reasonably active and fit without taking part in activities that lead to complications down the road. I spent my share of time outdoors as a kid… just not messing up my joints long-term.
