I am well aware that these weekly quests end with the calendar event time (currently 5am Pacific time), but the tooltip on turn-in is bugged as its remaining time left for turn-in when you hover over the question mark is aligned with daily reset time.
Screenshot taken at 4:38am PST / 7:38am EST, making it seem like the quest would be done at reset or 8am PST
For more information: I was trying to complete this quest on some alts before it ended. When I went to turn one in at 4:43am PST (17 minutes before the quest should end), it said it had 3 hours remaining on the quest. So, I turned it in, logged on to another alt that only needed 5 more quests, knowing that I might be cutting it close if it still ended as per normal. I was on the last quest, halfway done with it, at 5am PST. It didn’t go away at 5, so I finished the quest around 5:05am, flew to Oribos for turn-in. It was around 10 minutes give or take after the hour and I turned it in without an issue. Afterwards, I logged into a couple other characters to see if the quest was still up, and by 5:30am the quest had disappeared from the alts. This is to be expected, however, the quest saying it had 3 hours left is a bug. And the quest didn’t go away immediately at the event end time, which would make it even more confusing for those unaware of the event timeframe.
I just got screwed by that bug. The quest was in my log and I thought I had until reset because of that tooltip. It was at 19/20 in my quest log so I did the 20th WQ at maybe 5:30 server. It completed but when I zoned into Oribos the quest just disappeared from my quest log. I was counting on that anima to finish my covenant weekly too.
IMO the bug is the timeframe, not the tooltip. Covenant weeklies persist until reset. Oribos weeklies should behave the same way to avoid confusing players. Also as mentioned above, if a weekly quest cannot be turned in, it should be immediately removed from a player’s quest log. Don’t make me work and then take away the reward.
Same exact thing happened to me just now.
Sorry this happened to you
I agree it can be so frustrating! There are so many who come here to the forums not knowing this behavior with the weekly quests, and to have this tooltip does not make it any better. I may create a suggestion thread on the quests forum as I don’t think I’ve seen one on this topic about event start and end times. Because of this issue, I always assume with any event that ends on X day, that I will make sure it’s done the day prior because of the wildly different reset times for events and holidays etc, and I’d rather not have to keep track. At least the weekly events seem to be consistent, just not at reset time.
Interestingly, I completed a calling recently with only a few minutes to spare, and I was still able to turn it in about 10 minutes after reset time, even though the new calling was available on the same NPC. I’m not sure if there is a set buffer of time (within 30 minutes?) that allows this, which also allowed me to complete the 20 WQ quest after the time ended.
