The Worgen Starting zone is a mess

Broken npc pathing, tremendous loot delay (only felt here), multiple quest events fail and restart. How is this ignored? The battle for Gilneas reset multiple times yesterday to the point of all the players trying gave up. After submitting a open ticket (and bug report) I get a stock answer saying nothing is wrong, only to still have the event fail three times in a row before I just threw in the towel.

Is this the blizzard standard now? A broken zone, starter zone none the less, and canned GM responses that ignore what you even open a ticket for?

Last I made a worgen I had no issues. Dang. Must of been something that recently showed up…0.o

You’ll find that there are many places in older areas that are not sufficiently maintained. There are cracks everywhere.

Just last night, I was completing Terrokar forest and doing a quest to kill the bone lurkers. You had to summon them with a drum and they would surface. What I found was that I could not DoT them until they used a special move that caused them to burrow and resurface. I would literally wait for 30 seconds before I could do damage for each one.

It’s as if they figured making everything scale would somehow make it better. Every aspect of the leveling system is worse now in my opinion then it ever was.

It is more a chore now then the journey it was meant at one time to be. But I guess that’s what happens when you move on to the next expansion and forget the rest of the game exists.

I did the Worgen starting zone a week ago and everything was fine (including looting). What add-ons are you running?

It’s only a chore in the fact that it takes time. Leveling has never been faster. You can level up in the fewest zones possible therefore maximizing xp gains without having to travel from zone to zone doing only a handful of quests before the xp becomes trivial then having to move on to the next area.

This is the best leveling has ever been for me personally, I love it.

First thing I did was kill all my addons to eliminate that potential issue. It was affecting everyone in the zone yesterday. The one of the final quest “The Battle for Gilneas” would have npcs stand there, then reset. Then after getting to the last part bug out reset and port everyone there back to the bridge at the start and begin the even again.

Tried again this morning before reset still broken, after reset and GM response about it being fine still broken… :-/

You have to follow the one dude very closely. Don’t bother killing anything you don’t have to.

Were you trying to do it as a group?

As a worgen master race player who has made many worgens in his time I know for a FACT this zone is jacked up. Not an add on or any other issue. Especially when you get to the final battle where either you’re trying to get into the glaive thrower. Hell even when you’re trying to get off the stupid ship and end up not being able to mount and die randomly and can’t get to your body due to it being on the Horde ship. Also I remember one playthrough we were waiting for Sylvanas to show up and she never came lol.

I know how to do it, I’ve done it a while ago. The event just won’t work, npcs idle, backtrack and reset. It’s not working as intended.

Last time I made a Worgen for my web series, I had no issues. I personally think it’s one of the better and more epic starting areas :slight_smile:

It’s quite annoying that it’s still an issue. And it’s not a small one. It’s a barrier to one of the races, for pete’s sake.

A little while back, I wanted to to relive the goblin and worgen starting zones. Not to keep the characters, just for fun.

What a mess. That horse quest… omg that horse quest. Forget about it.

But it shouldn’t be a rush to get through it as fast as possible. Seeing the world and exploration to find hidden secrets the entire time is supposed to be fun. But we can’t even get that at the endgame anymore I mean even treasures are up on our map.

Maybe part of the issue is also that it is just too easy. If you can come here and tell me leveling has never been better you never experienced what it was to level in Vanilla or BC and WoTLK.

I like leveling for both pre-Cata and now but for different reasons :slight_smile:

It’s a shame. Because back when that content launched, I really enjoyed that whole zone. I made several worgen just go through it.

I can hope they redo the starting zone, and redo Gilneas as a whole with the Worgen Model Update… heck with the fall of Undercity, maybe Gilneas can rise up a capital city.

If it works its a great area, in fact my first time through it over a year ago I adored it! I wish that the aesthetic was used more (we finally got it in a new island). In it’s current state it just well kills the mood.

It’s a shame that the zone becomes useless after leveling through it, but the initial experience is fantastic. That’s why I picked it to start off my series, then later race changed to a Void Elf. And yes, I RPed the heck out of that character change to make it canon :slight_smile:

I have the, um, privelege of having leveled through it at least a few times to join a few friends, and I can say sometimes it works perfectly fine, and sometimes it’s a complete mess. There’s no real consistency.

So to all the people saying it worked for you, just consider you might’ve been lucky.
