This is a MASSIVE nerf to elemental shaman utility that was designed for a WOD balance patch. I cannot fathom why ele shaman of all things deserved a nerf this big to one of its core utility spells. From what I saw on beta, ancestral guidance could be used for cool moments for extra raid healing especially in AOE scenarios and was not at all being abused. This nerf is completely out of place considering its from WOD, by this logic we should put in all the other WOD nerfs for other classes.
Blizz please do not put WOD changes that are designed around a completely different balance paradigm into MOP classic.

Ele is entirely balanced around utility – most of it coming from AG. AG should not be nerfed without considerable buffs elsewhere for ele

Agreed - if they are going to nerf AG, then Lava Burst should scale its damage with Crit like chaos bolt. Why gut the ‘hybrid’ part of the class? It makes no sense.
And the 10% buff to lightning bolt is actually hilariously misinformed on the class. It would be like deciding to give ele their 6.0 mastery. Just completely guts the class without any clear direction on the why of it.
It is clear they were focused on the healer balance this patch and randomly elemental shaman got caught in the crossfire, then they decided to put a band aid over a bullet wound. Very frustrated to say the least as this hybrid aspect was a really cool interaction and a 50% nerf (40-20) is something you only reserve for genuinely broken things.
Im sure they will revert it, they have in the past when theyve hit other specs unintentionally, like offtank/tank druid during wrath when they tried to nerf omen of clarity.
Ancestral Guidance is an awesome ability that felt really good to press as a dps shaman in MoP… revert pls

Didnt they say some nerfs/buffs will work for cetrain specs only on shared abilities?
Would ancestral guidance fall in that camp?
During the last few retail seasons theyve been nerfing it as well for dps shaman. At one point you could run raids and m+ with dps rotating their big AG type coodowns to carry the high damage phase healing and that was gutted the next season.
It doesn’t say a specific spec so there’s no reason to believe it doesn’t affect every spec.
Uh ok. It was a pretty strong button in MoP. Probably should still be strong in MoP Classic.
This nerf states it applies to all shamans, plus resto shaman uses conductivity, not this talent. So effectively this is just a nerf for dps shamans.

No revert with significant changes for other classes. This change is really bad and will be counter productive to the changes made, this will make ele less viable as a slot. Please reconsider Blizzard
100% agreed. The devs made it clear they want a reason to bring the hybrid casters, but then turned around and curb stomped one of the main reasons to bring them. If AG is not going to change back, then further buffs are needed to make us an equal range dps to the top contenders.
