Hi Guys
I’ve never played The Witcher games before however I’m contemplating on downloading Wild Hunt today. Just wanting to check from others who have played it, is it a good game with good RPG elements? Side quests, exploring, crafting, how realistic mounts are etc?
Thanks!
The combat is whatever. (Typical solo character action RPG, it works but nothing special.)
On the other hand, story, exploring, questing, music, voice acting… pretty much everything else is as good as it can possibly be in an RPG. There’s a reason a lot of people call The Witcher 3 the game of the 2010 decade.
Story is good combat is terrible.
Just watch a let’s play series on youtube imo
The main story is probably one of the best stories I’ve ever experienced in an RPG. You do not need to have played the first two games to follow the story either. However, if you have played Witcher 2, you can import the save file and some of the choices you made in that game will be reflected in reappearing characters.
There are a TON of side quests and encounters spread all over the map. You are incentivized to do a lot of them as many crafting recipes are acquired from these.
As said by others, the combat is nothing special. You have the standard light attack, strong attack, dodge, parry, ranged attack buttons. Once you figure out what build you want to do, the game can easily turn into a 1 button spam fest.
The 2 DLC expansions are huge. Blood and Wine could nearly stand as its own separate game.
Overall, the game is worth getting. It’s in my top 5 games of all time. If you have any doubts, wait for it to go on sale through either Steam or GOG and grab it. Hell, it’s on sale right now in Steam for $15 for the full game with both DLCs.
Witcher 3 is still my number one game of all time. Have almost 2000 hours played and multiple playthroughs. The extra bits CDPR put in like decisions in quests from the starting area having minor ramifications later on was a great touch.
